A breathtaking, goose flesh igniting, awe inspiring love journey of an ordinary man Suri and his 'total opposite' love Taani. A breathtaking, goose flesh igniting, awe inspiring love journey of an ordinary man Suri and his 'total opposite' love Taani. The phrase "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte," repeated many times in the rabnebanadijodi, is actually a combination of three Bollywood movies that starred the three big Khans: Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) with Aamir Khan, Phir Milenge (2004) with Salman Khan, and Chalte Chalte (2003) with Shah Rukh Khan, who was the lead in this rabnebanadijodi.

Well.Inspite of all the reviews going around of Rab Ne being clichéd,sluggish and what not,the movie rabnebanadijodi to me is top notch.I would give it rabnebanadijodi 8 on 10 "jeee".Admitted I adore SRK, but even if you are not a fan you would invariably become one by the time the end titles start rolling. And if u still believe even after watching Chak de and Rab Ne that SRK is good only playing Raj and he is no good actor, then forget it!!!U must be having serious, serious reservations against the actor.

Swades,Chak De and now Rab Ne.His performance in Rab Ne is right up there and no other actor could portray the character of Surinder with such élan as SRK did. Well I've heard SRK say in some interview prior to Rab ne release of how his previous 6 Yashraj Films had contributed in making him 90% superstar. Well, now you could make it 7 in a row and YRF has made him 100% superstar. The Yahraj,SRK saga continues and it is now in the form of its life.

Aditya Chopra after a historic DDLJ,a mediocre Mohabbatein is back with Rab Ne.It doesn't get bigger and better than Rab Ne.Well after watching this film you would curse yourself on how Adi betrayed all the Indiam movie lovers by directing just 3 films in the last 14 years. How rich could Rabnebanadijodi cinema have been had he directed a few more gems ala Rab Ne. C'mon Adi.We would want to see rabnebanadijodi in the director's chair rather than producing those horrific movies Roadside Romeo.

Darr,DDLJ,DTPH,Mohabbatein,Veer Zaara,Chak De and now Rab Ne.SRK is back with YRF. What rabnebanadijodi it that makes this combo churn out the most memorable movies we would ever watch on the silver screen year after year. Rab Ne inspite of being a good 2 1/2 hour long movie rivets you in every single frame. It is a movie which would take you into a different world,a world of Surinder Sahni. As promised by the makers one would identify themselves with the protagonist, feel for him, live with him and when u start living with the character and forget everything around u know pretty well that the film is working big time.

A simple love story where every scene is so convincingly shot that one wonders on how the shooting was rabnebanadijodi in just 47 days and the script written in 12 days. It would be immature of me to even comment about SRK's performance.Anushka Sharma, Well she couldn't have asked for more. And she performed with such confidence that would have made even the likes of the Kajols and Madhuris proud Vinay Pathak enters the big league as well and we will now start seeing him taking center stage rabnebanadijodi the more prominent movies.

Little moments from this film leave such a lasting impression.Be it the scene on the dining table with the rose,The back ground tune and the score of "Haule Haule" being played intermittently at regular intervals for little triumphs of Suri, Taania greeting Suri's friends on the Reception night, the Holi scene, the "Yellow Tiffin Box",the Biryani thing,The sorry episode to name a few.You would yearn for Taania to unite with Suri and not elope with Raj.

"Inspite of loving the rabnebanadijodi "Raj" all these days in DDLJ,KKHH and so many other movies we start disliking him and rather feel for the Surinder and would want him to succeed in his love. That is where the movie succeeds big time." Admitted it gets a bit dull in the middle with the dance episodes and all but u would when the entire 2 1/2 hours rabnebanadijodi around just 2 characters. But still the movie remains afloat thanks to all those wonderful little moments that are spread throughout.

Agreed it is no DDLJ,no KKHH but still you would not want to miss it. Rabnebanadijodi watch it!!!! Amazon.com: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi [Blu-ray] : Shah Rukh Khan, Vinay Pathak, Anushka Sharma, M.K. The filmmakers were confident that it would be able to strike a chord with millions because the film has ordinary people as its target audience: "As middle-class people, so many of us have a routine life.

We wake up in the morning, get dressed, go to office, come back, sometimes for a change we buy things to take home, watch TV, eat dinner and go to sleep. And then we repeat this day after day, week after week. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi talks about one such man who lives a routine life. It is rabnebanadijodi simple film at heart." Review Shah Rukh is superb as the simpleton and your heart goes out to him every time he appears on screen.

You want the underdog to win and here too, the way SRK tackles this part, you're all the more convinced. As Raj, SRK goes overboard at times. Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It's no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end. Vinay Pathak is incredible.

He contributes enormously in making the proceedings lively. --platform47.com Rab Ne Bana De Jodi is vey desi at heart with a strong start and an equally strong emotional end.

If I could marry this movie and have its children, I would. 30 minutes in, and I knew it was one of my favorite films and 2nd favorite Bollywood film (nothing will ever beat "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" for me).

This was so sad and so sweet, and it was funny without deviating into hammy slapstick humor, which Bolly films are sometimes want to do. The songs are some of the best I’ve seen, and Shah is amazing as the lovesick nerd. I just wanted to cry at how adorable he was. This was some of his most honest acting. He’s a great actor, but he usually just plays differentiations of a hero character.

His alias "Raj" was sort of that, but you kept believing it was Surinder in disguise. I think despite how good his films always rabnebanadijodi, this one has a lot more tenderness and believability in regards to the heartache he’s feeling. I’m devastated that no one I know will see this. I’m sad that Bollywood films aren’t more common. I used to think they were just silly dance films, but then I started watching them.

These films "render our grief and happiness on screen and give us a golden reason to live" (stole that from "Billu Barber"). They make me feel so happy, and have the power to make you rabnebanadijodi in true love, happy endings, heartache, family, God, being ridiculous, singing and dancing.

I’m so glad that the message of this film was that even an ordinary man can be the “hero” of his life. (Also KAJOL has a cameo in a dance sequence, which keeps happening in Shah’s films, and I don't know about them, so when it happens, I’m immediately shot rabnebanadijodi to Heaven). Two thumbs up for this charming film. It gently pokes fun at the stereotypes of its own genre while still nailing classic Bollywood spectacle.

An effervescent bride is shocked on her wedding day when her groom rabnebanadijodi his parents are killed in a bus crash on the way to the ceremony. Her father is so distraught he has a heart attack, and on his deathbed he asks his daughter to marry his friend, a boring, shy but steady man who works at a desk job that he knows will provide for his daughter.

She agrees but says she will never love again. They live in separate sections of his large house, and he can tell she is consumed with sorrow, and pays for her to take group dance lessons to cheer her up. He then asks his best friend, a loudmouth barber, for fashion advice. Decked out in tight new clothes, a fresh haircut, he hides in the background to watch her dance.

But when the group dance is split up into partners, he is reluctantly pulled onto the dance floor to partner up. She does not recognize him and he puts on a new name and a new persona.brash, over-the-top, says whatever he is thinking, and always flirting with her in the worst way.and making her laugh and take risks again. Back at home, he is still his original self.awkward, frumpy, glasses and and fake mustache.providing for every need without hardly a word.

Whom will she choose?

rabnebanadijodi

The most surprising conclusion of this "Walter Mitty"-type story, rabnebanadijodi what the principal characters finally come to understand the definition of love. Love is seeing God in the other person. A profound truth wrapped up in a silly musical, with gorgeous costumes, and traditional values.

And it's free on Amazon prime! Vivacious, beautiful Taani (Anushka Sharma) suffers a catastrophe on the eve of her wedding, and at her father's request, she marries his trusted student Suri (Shah Rukh Khan).

Serious, nerdy Suri fell in love with her at first sight, but Taani tells him she'll never be able to love him, nor be happy and light-hearted again. Suri takes on the role of a fun-loving Raj in her dancing class, hoping to make her laugh again, and hoping to use Raj to help Taani fall in love with Suri. Things don't work as Suri had hoped, and he sees his chance of happiness with Taani become slim. In rabnebanadijodi romantic drama, Khan plays an average man rabnebanadijodi Suri, and brash and loud as Raj, neither the handsome or charming character that is rabnebanadijodi usual role.

This he does suprisingly well. Sharma, in her first role, was excellent, and fully believable in her emotions. While the songs and choreography were average, the cinematography, locations, and sets were lovely. I was conflicted as to the credibility of Taani's reaction to the truth, but otherwise found this to be a sweet and enjoyable film with a beautiful message, celebrating unselfish love.

rabnebanadijodi

This is a wonderful movie for Bollywood fans. The dance and songs are fantastic, and the story romantic and funny. Watch as the leading male character changes with ease from a mild mannered quiet desk worker at a power company, to a hilarious fun loving dancer by night to try and win the affections of his wife.

There is so much charm and warmth in this movie it is hard to say to much without giving away the whole story. The dance numbers and music are so much fun to watch it will have you wanting to get up and dance with the cast. Yes, the movie has English subtitles, but is still worthy of your time and rabnebanadijodi. Before the wedding, Taani's fiancé rabnebanadijodi her entire wedding entourage are killed in a road accident. The shocked Rabnebanadijodi Gupta suffers a massive heart attack and is hospitalized.

On his deathbed, fearing that Taani will be alone in the world, the dying Professor Gupta implores rabnebanadijodi Suri marries her. Suri silently concedes because he likes her anyway and with respect to his professor, while Taani agrees to fulfill her father's last wish.

Professor Gupta dies and after an impromptu wedding, Suri takes Taani to his ancestral home in Amritsar. While his good nature leads Suri to treat her with exceptional care — he even lets Taani have his rabnebanadijodi all to herself — he is too frightened to profess his love for her. Taani later agrees to try to be a good wife and thus respect her role in Suri's life but feels she can never love him, or anyone, again after the loss of her former fiancé.

Suri, grateful for rabnebanadijodi increasing acts of affection that Taani shows him, proceeds to indulge her wishes. These include regular evening trips to the cinema to see Bollywood movies which appeal to Taani's fantasies about romance and her passion for dancing.

Rabnebanadijodi few days later, Taani finds a dancing competition poster and asks for Suri's permission to take part in it, which he agrees to. During the evenings that they spend at theatres, Suri realizes rabnebanadijodi is the strong and masculine images of men that Taani admires, and later on, asks his best friend, Balwinder "Bobby" Khosla, a hair-salon owner, for grooming advice that could help him win her love. Bobby gives him a complete makeover—which includes trimming off his mustache, changing his rabnebanadijodi to spiky, rabnebanadijodi fitting rabnebanadijodi out in funky Western-style clothing, including aviator-style shades with oversize pastel lenses.

Suri is thus transformed into "Raj Kapoor", a name he borrows from the hero of a film that Taani admired. Raj (Suri) goes to Taani's dancing competition venue to rabnebanadijodi her perform.

He joins the competition and at the end of that class, all participants are put into groups of two by random numbers given by the staff, and both Raj and Taani have the number '21'. Despite Raj's initial over-the-top attempts to emulate the "cool" images given by heroes in films, after the first attempt of impressing Taani in that way, she refuses to be his partner, telling Raj that they will never win the competition if he continues his antics.

Raj implores her that he will improve and they become friends, working together on rabnebanadijodi dance routine. Raj feels encouraged by Taani's guidance in special dance sequences, and Taani feels good to come out from the mundane housewife routine. Finally, they are both selected for rabnebanadijodi finals.

It is at this time Raj decides to profess his love for Taani. Taani is shocked and enters into a period of internal conflict, despite Raj rabnebanadijodi her that they can still remain, friends, if she does not reciprocate his love. Suri also faces a dilemma as he can not tell Taani of his disguise. He thus attempts to win Taani's love as Suri at Bobby's advice, an act which only alienates her further. One night, Suri takes Taani to a trade fair where he enters a Sumo rabnebanadijodi competition to win a chance to visit Japan.

He is injured but ultimately wins. Taani gets shell-shocked and infuriated at this. At home, while dressing his wounds, she demands to know the reason for his actions and begs Suri to not keep showering his care on her as she would not be able to repay him.

Suri believes that true love cannot be repaid and is disappointed that Taani cannot see his love for her as himself, only as Raj. Later that night, Taani plans to elope with Raj. Suri tells Bobby that he will end the charade in his own way, sacrificing his cravings for Taani's love, leaving her his property, and transferring to Delhi. On the day of the competition, Suri takes Rabnebanadijodi to the Golden Temple to gain God's blessings for her performance for that night and, internally, also for her life without Raj.

While there, Taani has a realization in which she believes God has shown her a sign that her marriage to Suri is divinely inspired. For the first time, she reflects on her husband and becomes aware of the strength and integrity of Suri's character, something which she grows to love.

Taani thus tells Raj on the night of the competition that she cannot choose him over her husband, as it is equivalent to leaving God. When the time comes for their performance, Taani is stunned to see Suri instead of Raj joining her on stage. While dancing, Taani puts two and two together and through a series of flashbacks, she awakens to the fact that Suri is in fact Raj.

Backstage, after their dance, she tearfully confronts Suri, and when he confesses his love for her, she admits that she reciprocates his feelings. The two win the competition. The film ends with Suri and Taani visiting Japan on their belated honeymoon. The female lead was to be a newcomer who would be chosen following a massive talent hunt for a young, demure woman with quintessential Punjabi features. [14] In May, Yash Raj announced the casting of the 19-year-old model Anushka Sharma as the heroine opposite Shahrukh Khan. Yash Chopra commented: "We were looking first for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small-town Punjab.

We know we have found her in Anushka. While she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh" [15] Sharma was chosen over hundreds of girls for this role and was kept hidden from the rabnebanadijodi during the filming.

When asked about that, Khan said: "The idea was not to keep her a secret; we wanted her work to speak for her. When new actors come into films, it is important for people to see their work and then question them. It becomes easier after the film releases." [16] Vinay Pathak was cast to play an important role in the film, making it his first commercial outing. [17] Filming began in May 2008; Yash Chopra was present at the shoot. [18] A portion was shot with Khan at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab.

The screening was attended by Khan and his family, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra, and debutant Sharma. [27] There was a huge debate in the industry whether Aditya Chopra's decision to go ahead with the release of the film in the wake of the terror strikes in Mumbai was the right one.

With the trauma of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai city on 26, 27, and 28 November still fresh, there was divided opinion on the release schedule. While some felt that Chopra should go ahead with the release because the public, tired and depressed after watching news of the attacks and the aftermath on television screens, would be waiting for a true entertainer to divert its mind, others thought he should postpone the film release as the audiences, not just in Mumbai but all over the country, were still not in a mood to visit theatres.

[28] Promotion [ edit ] The first poster of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released in October in theatres and multiplexes across India, with full-page advertisements in national dailies. The first theatrical promo was released on 14 November, with Rabnebanadijodi Johar's Dostana. Initially very little was known about the movie, and there were many theories floating around on the Internet about the story.

[29] [30] The first music promo of the song "Haule Haule" was released on 2 November 2008, across all leading television channels to coincide with Khan's 43rd birthday. [31] The song promo had received praise from the public.

[32] Home rabnebanadijodi [ edit ] Joginder Tuteja of Bollywood Hungama gave the DVD of Rabnebanadijodi Ne Bana Di Jodi 3.5 out of 5 stars stating that it is a good choice if you "want to watch a clean family movie at home." The DVD includes the documentaries, The Rabnebanadijodi of the Film and The Making of the Songs ("Haule Haule", "Dance Pe Chance", "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte"), as well as a number of deleted scenes and interviews.

[33] The film, was released on Blu-ray a year after its theatrical release. Reception [ edit ] Critical reception [ edit ] Upon release, the film received positive reviews. Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times calls Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi an "agreeably amusing comedy/romance/musical" noting that, "the magnetic Khan is a skilled enough comic actor with his physical transformation—like a Peter Sellers-ish recessive turning into a Jerry Lewis extrovert—that believing Taani wouldn't notice isn't difficult." [34] Rachel Saltz of The New York Times describes it as "soft, sweet and slow, in the words of one of its songs.

It deftly blends comedy, the ruling tone of the new Bollywood, with melodrama, the ruling tone of the old." [35] Manish Gajjar of the BBC gave the film 4 out of 5 stars noting that, "Shah Rukh Khan makes you laugh and cry as the nerdy-looking, clumsy, bespectacled Surinder and all hip and happening Raj.

A true professional in his own right, Khan breezes through his dialogues during the emotional and comic scenes." rabnebanadijodi Frank Lovece of Film Journal International argues that it is "smarter and more self-aware of its rabnebanadijodi contrivances than most Hollywood rabnebanadijodi and notes that while "the movie's cleverness eventually devolves into a simplistic Harlequin-Romance-for-males wish-fulfillment about beauty and the geek, it's a very well-acted variation on a Hollywood staple." [37] Critic and author Maitland McDonagh of MissFlickChick.com stated that the film, "has been dismissed in some quarters as self-conscious and artificial, a coyly self-referential reworking of outdated movie tropes a la Todd Haynes' Far Rabnebanadijodi Heaven, but rabnebanadijodi works for me in a way that most contemporary Hollywood romcoms don't." [38] The film also received some negative reviews.

Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN was critical, giving it 2 out of 5 stars and stating that "Aditya Chopra's return to direction after 8 years is marked by a flawed script, which in turn spawns a disappointing film. Rabnebanadijodi the smart dialogue and the spirited characters that defined his debut film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge?

There's no trace of either in this film.the problem then, at the root of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, is that much like those artificial sets in the film, the emotions too are contrived." [39] Derek Elley of Variety argues rabnebanadijodi the film has "a huge, hollow center that sinks the project early on.A paper-thin script drags itself to the finish line amid tiresome mugging by Khan, a huge credibility gap (she never recognizes him without his glasses and mustache?), and a blah score with only one showstopper (featuring 5 famous actresses)." [40] A number of critics have further noted the similarities between this movie and superhero films.

Khalid Mohamed, of the Hindustan Times, gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars stating that Suri "is a soul brother to the mousy Clark Kent-cum- Superman" who "makes you laugh and sob alternately." [41] Mayank Shekhar from Mumbai Mirror gave the film three out of five stars and argues that "[The] same person, oppositely twinned, is usually the stuff of superhero films; the kinds of Clark Kent-Superman, Peter Parker- Spider-Man etc.

You rabnebanadijodi entirely lost in this fantasy flick because for the most part, it’s built around something rabnebanadijodi intimate and real. It’d be much easier to travel to foreign countries around far-fetched situations with fake heroes." [42] In addition, Sudish Kamath of The Hindu stated that while Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi could have been an interesting art film exploring the dynamics of an arranged marriage, the director instead "treats this character type like Sam Rabnebanadijodi would treat Spider-Man.Superhero 'Raj' slips into costume and out, complaining about how it gets uncomfortable around the crotch, to win over his Mary Jane with not much saving-the-world rabnebanadijodi to keep him busy.

But while Spidey does it for a bigger reason than just MJ, Raj’s sole motivation is to stalk his wife and play out his fantasy as somebody else.

rabnebanadijodi

His obsession with his alter-ego reaches new heights when he wants his wife to cheat on the real him—the goofy Surinder Saini who starts off well." [43] Box office [ edit ] Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi collected ₹420 million (US$5.5 million) in its opening week. [44] By its fourth week, it had earned ₹860 million (US$11 million), making it Shah Rukh Khan's fifth consecutive blockbuster in 3 years and Aditya Chopra's third blockbuster as a director.

[45] [46] The film grossed $8.43 million in the overseas market of which $2.09 million was contributed by the United States and $2.24 million from the UK, and was declared as a blockbuster overseas.

[47] At rabnebanadijodi end of its theatrical run, it grossed ₹1,578.9 million (US$21 million) worldwide, thus becoming Yash Raj Films' and Khan's highest-grossing film at the time of its release. [9] It was the second-highest-grossing film domestically and the highest-grossing in the overseas market rabnebanadijodi year. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi made a profit of 17,475,096,910 in UK pounds (£) = £17,475,096,910.
