Her absence from Peaky Blinders will be felt by all, both cast and crew alike, as she was a brilliant actress and a beloved co-star.

So with the upcoming release of Season 6, many people are wondering how Peaky Blinders will handle McCrory's absence. Polly Gray was a huge part of Peaky Blinders for the first five seasons. The unspoken head of the Shelby family, Polly took no slack from anyone and was entirely devoted to her family and their future successes. She always tried to take the moral high ground, unless she had been wronged. Polly gray was the epitome of class and grace, despite living a life filled with crime.

Her departure from the Shelby family will leave a huge mark, whether they kill her off or write her a storyline that takes her away from the family. Given the violent nature of Peaky Blinders, it's very likely that the creators will kill Polly Gray. While nothing is certain until the premiere of Season 6, this makes the most sense.

polly gray

Her backstory was filled with tragedy and responsibility, and her role as the matriarch of the Shelby family was being threatened at the end of Season 5, by her son Michael and his new American wife. Considering how easily the show seems to kill off characters, both main and supporting, it wouldn't be difficult to do the same with Polly. Additionally, the criminal nature of the story leaves room for plenty of opportunities to kill off any of the Shelby family members.

Polly could polly gray accidentally killed in an assassination attempt on Tommy, or she could become the new target of any number of enemies the clan has created for themselves. Whether her death is accidental or intentional, it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to make it happen. Peaky Blinders could give her a storyline that takes her away from the family permanently, explaining her absence from the screen. But this doesn't seem likely. After all Polly put into protecting and building her family and their empire, it seems extremely unlikely that she would up and leave for any reason.

Even if she did leave, it would be in her character's nature to check in on her family and visit from time to time, which wouldn't be possible with Polly gray untimely death. Ultimately, and as sad as it will be, Peaky Blinders will likely just kill Polly Gray. On top of adding drama to the family dynamic, her absence will force Tommy and the rest of the Shelbys to more carefully consider their actions. They will keep Polly in their minds every time they need to make polly gray, and her death will become a catalyst for story events as everyone grapples with their grief.

Though Polly Gray may be gone from Peaky Blinders, her character's presence will never truly disappear from the show, and McCrory will always be remembered fondly both as her character and as the talented actress she was.
