Would you like to learn the dua the Prophet Muhammad (๏ทบ) used to recite during Fajr or the morning prayer? It was reported in the Sahih hadith by Umm Salamah that while he said the Salam, he would say the allahumma inni as aluka ilman nafian dua.

This is a very short dua, easy to memorize and learn, and it asks Allah SWT for beneficial knowledge, for good provision and acceptable deeds.

allahumma inni as aluka ya allah al ahad as samad lam yalid walam yulad walam yakullahu kufuwan ahad

The reason why this is a very popular dua is it asks Allah for much and Allah is the best Giver of sustenance and provision.

Asking Allah for beneficial knowledge is asking for wisdom. Islam does not encourage ignorance, and in this life and the afterlife we will be affected by the things we know and how we spent our time. So askings Allah for knowledge is highly recommended (see also rabbi zidni ilma dua) โ€œ Knowledge is not (acquired) through extensive learning. Rather, it is the light that God sends in the heart of whomever He wishes to guide. โ€ [Al-Majlisi, Bihar alโ€‘Anwarvol. 67, p. 140] โ€œAllah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother, and he allahumma inni as aluka ya allah al ahad as samad lam yalid walam yulad walam yakullahu kufuwan ahad treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for himโ€ Sahih Muslim 2699 The dua also asks for Allah for goodly provision.

This is a broad term, what are provisions? The dictionary defines provision as โ€œsupply with food, drink, or equipment, especially for a journeyโ€ but can also refer to finances, wealth, and obtaining halal money.

Lastly, it asks for deeds Allah for deeds which will be accepted. We are given opportunities by Allah SWT in this dunya and whether we seize them or not is up to us. If someone comes to us with a need and we shoo them away because itโ€™s not our problem or that we are busy we have lost a chance to receive the rewards of helping a brother or sister out.

I hope youโ€™re able to see the beauty in this dua, it really has a deep and profound message. allahumma inni asโ€™aluka ilman naafiโ€™an in arabic text Here is the full dua in Arabic text, Transliteration: Allahumma inni asโ€™aluka โ€˜ilman nafiโ€™an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa โ€˜amalan mutaqabbalan allahumma inni asโ€™aluka ilman nafia DUA meaning The translation of this dua, โ€œO Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision and acceptable deedsโ€ Hereโ€™s the full hadith from which this dua is originated from.

These are selected Hadiths from the daily Adhkar taken from the authentic Sunnah. Duas in Salaah Shortened Question: What duas should be read before turning for Salam and between the two sajdahs?

Question: Salam, can you please tell me if I can make dua whilst in Salaah before making salaam. Can you tell me what to read between the Sajdas? Can you read this in Fardh Salaah?

JazakAllah Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salฤmu โ€˜alaykum wa-rahmatullฤhi wa-barakฤtuh. โ€ข In principle, after having recited tashahhud and blessing on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), it is Sunnah for a person to make dua with any of the supplications from the Qur`an and Sunnah [1]. However, you may specifically make any of the following narrated supplications before making salam [2]: ุงู„ู„ู‡ู… Transliteration: Allahumma Innee Zalamtu nafsee Zulman Katheeran wa innahu laa yaghfiruz zunooba illa anta faghfir lee maghfiratan min indika warhamnee innaka antal-ghafoor ur-raheem Translation: Oh Allah, I have indeed wronged myself and it is only You who pardons sins.

More ... Mihjan bin Al-Adra' narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) entered the masjid and there was a man who had finished his prayer and he was reciting the tashahhud.

He said: "Allahumma inni as'aluka ya Allah! Bi-annakal-Wahidul-Ahad us-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yowled, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad, an taghfirali dhunubi, innaka antal-Ghafurur-Rahim (O Allah, I ask of You, O Allah, as You are the One, the Only, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is None equal or comparable to Him, forgive me my sins, for You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.)" The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said: "He has been forgiven," three times.
