Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2021 A few years back I was an Ipsy subscriber. Every now and again I’d receive a gem in one of my bags and one of those gems was a small, sample sized bottle of ‘Juliette has a gun’.It was my second favorite scent in the entire world and I used it up fairly quickly.
The other day I was thinking about it again and happily discovered that it was on here, so I didn’t hesitate when I made the purchase.I have a strong sense of smell and scents that linger oftentimes give me a headache, but not this one! I absolutely love it! Two spritzes (one on the neck, one on the wrist) and I’m good to go with this stuff! â¤ï¸â€ðŸ”¥ This stuff is LIFE in a bottle. I smell like good credit, clean health history, royalty and high hopes for the future of all those who sniff me as I sashay my behind through the lives of those lucky enough to encounter me.
I bet I could run for President and get the votes of every person that smells me. I've been using this product for four years after trying a Birchbox sample. I purchased it, and was very impressed. I loved the scent, and got compliments on it frequently. They say olfactory (scent) memory is the strongest.
THIS IS NOT THE PERFUME YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. It smells like almost nothing, and what is there fades to actually nothing within 20 minutes. It's a shame that people are being introduced to this product in this way.
Now that I think about it, double the amount for only 35 dollars more is too good to be true. Please please please order this from Sephora, or some other seller that cares about their reputation! Amazon, please respond to these reviews and ban this seller. I received a sample of this perfume from a reputable company, fell in love with the scent and ordered this one.
I don't believe this product is authentic because it does not stay on the skin throughout the day and also you need to apply more product, like several pumps where as the other you need only one or two. I am going to return this and order from the other company.
Its worth it pay the difference in price and receive the REAL DEAL!! I have no idea what happened in the quality of this scent. This was a gift to juliette has a gun not a perfume for working straight through this huge crisis.
I rarely write reviews but this needed to be written. It is a lot of money to be spent and don’t think it original and this is true! I bought several times at Sephora. With this crisis ordered on line. 135.00 down the drain because I can’t return it. I will from now on go directly from the distributor of this product. NEVER AGAIN! I didn't know what it was. Thought it was chewing gum?
It was given as a sample when I purchased another product. Opened the small sample box. Found it was a "fragrance". Sprayed a very small amount.BLEW MY MIND! I immediately purchased it on Amazon. Received it the very next day. I am a HAPPY. SMELLING GOOD CAMPER.
Okay, I got a sample of this in an ipsy bag and was IN LOVE!! I would get compliments on my perfume ALL DAY. There has to be something a teensy different with the full size, because I hardly notice my perfume and the compliments have died down. I still am in love with the fragrance, but I wish there was more staying power. I received the Discovery kit of sample fragrances as a gift last year and this one was my favourite. It's a very subtle soft scent that stays close to your body and isn't obnoxious or overbearing.
The simple warm lightly musky scent feels clean and feminine to wear. Its simplicity means it also blends well with a one note perfume, such as an attar or essential oil. I can't imagine anyone not liking this. It's pricey, hence the 4 stars but this was the cheapest price I found online anywhere.
Packaging is stylish and robust. Reckon this would be a safe perfume gift bet, if you weren't sure what kind of perfume someone might like. Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume in not really a perfume but fragrant AMBROX in a flacon. C16 H28 O is formula of Ambroxan, the only key ingredient in this non-perfume. Ambrox was born in the 1950es in Firmenich as substitute for grey amber which was very expensive for a common use in compositions.
Ambrox is typically used as one of base notes of compositions, while it has a leading role in this non-perfume. Juliette Has A Gun Not a Perfume is a provocative declaration which does not follow the rules of modern perfumery.
Not a Perfume is based on contradictions, since its composition is created of molecules and is the only fragrance without allergens. Not a Perfume is available in characteristic flacons of 50 and 100ml.

I love this perfume. I consider it as a perfume for oneself, not for appealing to others because nobody notices it. On my skin, the scent doesn’t change. It’s very cozy and slightly sweet with sophistication. I guess this sensation is typical for the musky scent.
It might sound weird, but I smelled kind of similar vibe from royal musc from chez guerlain. It is considered as a skin scent in my opinion. According to others, this perfume smells very different on each person. I am so curious about it !!
that comment that says “ putting this and glossier you in the same room. these women having a mid off!” is hilariousss but noo every time i’ve tried this on in sephora never smelled anything and when i did i never liked it idk what changed today but i tried it on and let it sit and omgg i cannot stop smelling my hand. i bought it like it really won 😢 it smells fresh (not extremely) imo but really attractive? and can be even better depending on your style, look and demeanor.
also this and dior hypnotic poison have a similar smell yet ppl don’t really like this but like that? this is a realllllly good fragrance like you won’t be able to stop smelling it and i’m so serious. also the amber makes it sweet ( at least on me) and woody I tried on some of this in the Sephora store and after about 30 seconds, I found that it had very little scent for me. Unlike many synthetic fragrances, I did not find the smell to be unpleasant, just very mild.
I guess it reminded me of natural soap scented with cedar oil, something like that. When I asked my husband if he could smell it, though, he said that it was quite strong and smelled musky like men's cologne. Eventually I do think this fragrance gave me a dull headache, which went away after I washed it off. So I guess I won't be wearing this one. By itself, this smells like perfumed skin after a long day in the heat. Ive also layered it and find that it expands and lengthens other smells quite a bit.
It’s longevity is pretty impressive and it changes every hour. There’s nothing clean or laundryesque about it to me - the woods and musk are always lingering and usually prominent. I wish I knew how Cetalox and Ambroxan were “supposed” to smell as a comparison, but i have no idea. I haven’t tried Molecule or the other one everyone keeps mentioning, but am thinking about picking up a juliette has a gun not a perfume of the molecule signatures to layer and experiment with.
At the end of the day I don’t think I’d be able to wear anything like this for an entire day - I’d feel like something is missing and would want to respray. Someone else mentioned DG Light Blue and I get that also. I do like light blue trailing on other people but hate it on me because it kind of makes me sick. I also get the comparisons to suntan lotion/sunblock, which can also be nauseating. This came in a discovery set I purchased to test the line’s popular scents - I will admit that nothing about the line appealed to me except the fact that I kept Not a Perfume mentioned over and over again, and what with Molecule13 and all, I wanted to try it due to fomo - or fonu (fear of not understandingw which I just literally made up).
The discovery set included the "superdose" version of Not a Perfume which plays better on my skin; seemingly it is less potent.
Thus, I will be parting with Not a Perfume but will let Not a Perfume Superdose stick around for awhile to see how it pairs with other fragrances. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't purchase a bottle of either though. There are so many other perfumes I can think of that are skin enhancing that don't smell so overwhelmingly musky and synthetic.
I love this scent, and think that it plays well on a lot of different people. I thinks it's a safe scent juliette has a gun not a perfume gift to someone who doesn't typically wear fragrance. Have gifted this both to my mother rand my best friend and they both have loved it. Someone who is into clean and cool scents will appreciate it. I had never given this one a fair shot when I first smelled this around the time it came out.
Admittedly, I had only sprayed this on a test strip, and smelled pretty much nothing. What I didn't know at the time was that this is the type of fragrances that needs to be tested on skin, as paper does not do it justice.
It needs to mix with your own skin chemistry for you to really experience it. I had received a sample recently and after spraying it on my skin, I'd say it is a fresh musk. I don't get florals or woods from this, personally. Just a clean, "my skin but better" scent that surprisingly projects from an arm's length. It does remind me a bit of Another 13. I like it more than something like NR Pure Musc for Her.
This was a pleasant surprise for me. Very unisex. Ambroxan can smell like so many things to so many people, or like nothing at all to some unfortunate people as well, so as a disclaimer what I smell may not fit what you smell.
Cetalox is also one type of ambroxan manufactured so if juliette has a gun not a perfume one doesn't smell nice to you then I'd recommend trying another ambroxan perfume like Molecule 02 or Another 13 to see what you think of them as well.
To me and on me, Not a Perfume smells like skin on a hot summer day hours after you've applied a sandalwood body lotion on it. Musky and woody and a little sweet with great sillage and longevity. I like it a little bit less than Another 13 which I find to be a bit more complex, but this is still a really lovely perfume and a great choice for ambroxan lovers. Floral woody musk?.
I mean really? Ambergris when translated from French to English becomes grey amber. You can see why this tends to confuse. However, ambergris is not amber in any shape or form. Amber comes from nature, ambergris from the animal kingdom. Also. ambergris is not musk. Musk comes from an earth bound animal, ambergris from the sea.
Also, anything salty, bitter, sour that you might have smelled in a perfume is most probably ambergris, but which is not included in the pyramid (I wonder why?!).
This perfume, along with Molecule 2, aim to do the same thing: either on its own as a skin scent, or as a primer/layering. I had both as some point, so purely from personal experience Molecule 2 does a better job. How could that be, given that on paper they seem the same. Molecule 2 is patented, and I assume Not a Perfume will be too, which means that they both are the house's own version of what synthetic ambergris should smell like.
Not a Perfume is too in your face for my liking. This is a weird one. When I first smelled it it smelled kind of dirty. Like someone trying to cover juliette has a gun not a perfume the smell of halitosis or unwashed skin. Once it dries down a little it becomes quite lovely and I kept going back to it. I guess it's that human, skin scent quality that can be slightly too animalic for some.
I think maybe I prefer my cetalox scent slightly tempered with something else like Pear Inc. I don't feel like I could justify the cost for just one note. I slightly prefer the formula of Molecule 02 I wanted this more out of curiosity than anything else, but after wearing it on an unseasonably warm day through sweaty errands, I'm surprised to find that I love it! On me it opened with a sharp woody note between Virginia cedar and sandalwood, then dried down to a softer wood that embodied the vague "soft woods" note.
Pretty soon, a soft sweetness came in that was equally vague white floral without any identifiable flowers. Later on this evolved into a slightly sweet amber and the lovely woody note maintained. I didn't really get musk, which is fine with me as I own other musks.
Like I said, juliette has a gun not a perfume was a warm day and I ran errands and worked up a sweat, yet this kept me smelling not just clean but lovely. I live in a humid climate and spend much of the year feeling damp and gross, so this ability to feel clean and lovely without going beast mode on something obnoxious is something to treasure.
I don't care about sillage, I don't need to use perfume to get attention, I use it for my own enjoyment and emotional well being, which is where I think some people don't understand the point of a subtle skin scent. It's just a different approach to fragrance, but it has definite value, especially if you live in an unkind climate.
Sometimes I want to smell loud and share my scent, other times I just want to smell good to myself. Anyway, to me this smells expensive the way that subtle details are often expensive--say in an expensive suit fabric with shadow striping or in a very high end eye shadow with a delicate shimmer. People seem to want huge sillage for their money in perfumes, and I get that, but for a my skin but better scent, this is my idea of a perfect combination of close sillage with great longevity. I have the confidence of knowing I smell good up close and will continue to smell good all day.
These reviews are so crazy to me. I LOVE this scent. It is honestly one of the only fragrances that I am complimented on by total strangers every time I wear it! My kids love this scent because it reminds juliette has a gun not a perfume of the VIP lounge at the pricey all inclusive resort we vacationed at in Mexico.
I'll be honest, sometimes after a while, I don't smell it and then someone will walk into my office and say, "You smell so good!" :) I am prone to migraines and this is so light and natural that it's never been an issue for me. It really is an amazing everyday office scent. I almost blind bought this at tj maxx when I saw it for 60 but I'm glad I didn't.
I tried it on later in a juliette has a gun not a perfume store and it smells like straight up alcohol on my skin. I don't get anything else. I'm really into "your skin but better" scents but this is just too much of nothing, and so the alcohol just shines through. I tried pear inc on my skin as well, and it's slightly better with the pear top note, but it still also smells super alcohol-y.
not for me. Is it just me or does this smell like absolutely nothing? I've tested it at Sephora three times already, in order to smell a hint of it I have to press my nose to my skin.
and even then, it still smells like nothing. I don't intend to sound rude, but can social media please stop hyping up the dullest, mundane fragrances? I feel like every time I test a mainstream scent, I'm always disappointed. This smells like soft, fresh, musky laundry. It's like a warm hug. It's very light but it latches nicely onto clothing. If Glossier You was too peppery for you, this might be a good alternative.
I do get tired of it if I wear it too often, but I find myself coming back to it time and again. It's like a cozy sweater you pull out of your closet every winter. It's so unique but also so soft and quiet. Perfect for the office, for sensitive noses, and for layering. If you want to stand out and get noticed, this might not be the right pick for you. Okay so I tried this on & at first I was just like seriously??
What is the hype with this??.it doesn’t smell like much and smells weird. que 30 minutes later. almost forgetting about it.
I caught a subtle waft of this beautiful musk. realized it was my arm. oh wow that’s intoxicating. reading the comments my guess people will just perceive it differently and their body chemistry will also play a factor.
but after smelling myself and being a lover of musky scents I find myself needing this! And think this will be especially excellent with layering.& the longevity on myself lasted even through a shower.
I think this would be perfect for the office, it is so subtle and inoffensive that you're guaranteed not to irritate any of your fragrance-sensitive colleagues. I guess that is the point of it (not a perfume), but honestly it smells like next to nothing after drydown.
It sort of just enhances your skin scent. Freshly scrubbed after a shower. I've tried this perfume a couple of times and all I get is the smell of strong laundry detergent. No woodiness, no creaminess, no sweetness.not even a "clean skin" scent.
Just laundry detergent. It must be something with my chemistry given the many glowing reviews and descriptions below! Kind of a bummer. I have tried many perfumes with these synthetic molecules and mostly I hate them - they smell like chemicals and never magically combine with my skin chemistry as many find they do. I have tried this perfume many times too, and found it completely inert and strange. However today I tried the very last drop of my tester and initially it smelt like stale celery juice (or bin juice as my husband would call it) and I was disgusted and was about to scrub but I thought I would give it one last go.
After about 15 mins it had transformed into something far less gross. It was a vanillary amber that was really quite lovely. I am trying to find a perfume to wear at an interview (and I know there is all this discussion about the dos and don’ts of that) and this may be quite a suitable candidate but it is very similar to my DKNY a drop of vanilla so I probably won’t buy it, but I am glad that at least one molecule perfume works on me!
Pleasantly surprised by this. I wasn't too sure about it initially but the dry down is gorgeous. The amber notes are definitely coming through on me which is great because I love amber and I would like to experiment with layering it with other scents soon.
I think whether someone likes this scent or not seems to depend a lot on how it mixes with your body chemistry and the longer I wear this the more I like it so it must go great with mine.
It lasted forever on me. I put it on midday and I was still able to smell it 24 hours later on my skin. It doesn't have a huge sillage but for a skin scent I think that is perfect. I don't recommend a blind buy but I'd say get a sample and try it out for a couple of days for sure. I'll be buying full-size when I go through mine. What is this sorcery? I believe this is the scent I’ve been searching for.
It’s soft, warm, sweet, woody, natural, and just a little bit… juicy? A yellow orange nectar of some kind, but not sickly sweet or sticky. It’s smooth and dry, the idea of nectar. Juliette has a gun not a perfume feels so natural on me. It reminds me a little of warm, clean hair. You know, when you’ve washed your hair with shampoo that is slightly fruity, but clean smelling, and later your hair dries and you lift or move it and it releases a little of that warm musky body, hair, shampoo, clean person scent?
It’s a bit like that, but not in a gross way, in a very natural way that doesn’t try too hard and isn’t being forced upon the people around you. I recently discovered cloud musk from the mix bar line at target juliette has a gun not a perfume found people comparing it to this one.
This smells like the dry down of cloud musk, but dialed up 6 or 7 notches, which is great because the downside to cloud musk is it’s so faint and doesn’t last long. This is all I want. It’s perfect. Addendum: lightbulb moment! It’s clary sage! THATS the smell. Go to Whole Foods or wherever they sell essential oils and find clary sage, not sage, but clary sage. It has a very similar warm, sweet, gentle but sharper scent, but it’s very very faint and difficult to capture in a strong profile.
Ambroxide is synthesized from a component of the essential oil clary sage. Look it up on Wikipedia. Science! The name of this scent says it all: not a perfume. I’m not sure why anyone would buy this, unless they are super sensitive to fragrance or want something for work that won’t offend anyone. It smells like the faintest woody musk. Very plain and boring. The longevity is terrible. I barely got 3-4 hours and I had to bury my nose into my skin to detect it.
Overall: 2/10 I hear very mixed reviews about Juliette Has a Gun scents, as they seem to react differently with different body chemistry. On me, however, this is a very nice, yet flat scent.
It smells very similar to Clean Reserve's Skin Scent (Reserve Blend). Clean Reserve is a bit more complex/has a few hidden light florals in there. As these two are so close in scent on me, I would stick with Clean Reserve for the value and personal preference. I heard that Not a Perfume is hypo allergenic though, so I'd definitely buy that one if I, my partner, or coworker had allergies/fragrance sensitivities.
I cannot believe I like this, but I really enjoy juliette has a gun not a perfume. I kept testing it every time I went into Sephora and I always remembered it. It's warm, musky, a bit spicy, It's hard to describe but it smells like "person". Its not at all clean, fresh, or sweet (which it what I generally love).
I can imagine this not having wide appeal and I don't think I would wear this out because I would be self-conscious that other people hate it. But I love it. Definitely NOT one to blind buy.
This is my wedding day scent, and it tells it all. It is NOT a perfume. As non of the moleculars are. Expect some frivol moodiness and embrace it! The scent changes from the bottle to the skin and it is different with each of ours pheromones.
My perception is that day to day changes the scent even on me. It is alive not a set composition. The opening can be sharp and pharmaceutical juliette has a gun not a perfume that flies within minutes.
Or it has a scent like fresh cut paper sometimes. Usually I wear my scents on my neck, but she smells the best on my wrists. But the drydown! Worths the pain and the hussle. And also it is a stick-to-you scent.
Expect moments when it is quite and then suddenly it is omnipresent. On clothes it is there even after days. No. You won't fill the room with it. It is the scent of a confident, content woman, who smells good. Not like Chanel or Shalimar or Chloe. Where your perfume is obliviously present. You make your statement not the scent. It is like a well cut pair of pants with a matching blazer.
Not taking too much attention but perfect and straightens your backbone. This is beautiful enough not to try hard for attention. JHAG is noticed when you hug, sit close or move around. There is no situation where it would be inappropriate. First date, job interview, daycare, hospital or meeting the inlaws. There is an innocent, clean touch in it. However it is extremely sexy.
Ambroxan stimulates the brain that is responsible for sexual arousal (no magic why so many scent has it as a basenote). So if this particular scent melts in you pheromones, you have a jackpot. The scent gives me happiness, feels like I am put together.
There is some eternal memory that I don't even know, but it's imprinted in my brain and associated with this molecule. I have a lot of good memories with it, and I am about to make more with my lil' gun, NOT a perfume. LOVE. This is a must-have in your collection for two reasons: 1. It smells great on its own. I love to spray this right out of the shower, before I've decided my perfume of the day and while I still want to enjoy the other nice smells (e.g., shampoo, body wash, lotion) that are lingering.
It instantly makes you feel more put-together and adds juliette has a gun not a perfume the just showered feeling. 2. It is a GREAT base for many other scents. It just plays so well with others. I have been particularly enjoying this with JHAG's new gal, Lili Fantasy.
But I'm sure this would work with almost scent that you want to add a little more of a minimalist chic or cool, fresh vibe to. 8.5/10 The upside is that I'm sure this smells different on different people. The downside is that, with my particular skin chemistry it smelled like the Jovan musk oil from the drugstore that the stinkier teenagers wore when I was a kid--like dirty hair, unwashed clothes, and the person wearing them standing much too close. My partner's two signature scents juliette has a gun not a perfume Glossier's You and Not a Perfume by Juliette Has A Gun, and as much as I love them both, they smell *SO* similar that I find it incredibly hard to determine which one she's wearing on a given day!!!
I think I prefer Not a Perfume a little bit more because it has a little more versatility, can be layered with literally anything else, and its ambroxan note changes and smells like other things so frequently that it draws you in constantly. That being said, both fragrances are perfect for any weather or occasion, and mix with your own personal human scent to create something unique and irresitable. I tend to stay away from musk and amber in large quantities but Not a Perfume sits surprisingly sweet and warm on my skin without the “greasiness” I associate to these notes.
I tried it a few times and the first was useless, as I could not smell anything; I thought this was a “the emperor’s new clothes” situation, but the next ones, it did shine through, but juuuust slightly. If you want a loud perfume, this is not for you, but if you want a “your skin but better” fragrance, I would recommend to try it. Unfortunately this did not work on me at all.
On my skin it becomes like a metallic, slightly musty, disinfected dentist's office run out of an old house: vaguest tinge of blood-iron in the air, and the musk of the desk receptionist. Hard pass. Highly recommend you simply get a tiny sample and try on your skin before committing to this. Definitely not a blind buy.
I have the mini version and I LOVE it. it smells like idk. air? water? not in a bad way I swear. I Love this smell but idk how to explain it. U musttt give it a try. I am so picky and every time I have a fragrance on I am just too aware of it (if that makes sense) but this is just sooo light and pretty and clean.
Not in a fresh citrusy way but in a watery way. I adore it, and it is SO SAD that it is gone in a minute. I can not detect this scent on me EVER. I spray so much and I love it initially but it's gone in 2 minutes. No silage, No lasting power. none. :( Try it though, some people say it lasts a long time on them so please buy a sample and try. P.S This doesn't smell like molecule 01. I think molecule 01 is a lil more masculine-ish which is not the case with this one.
plus JHAG is more light and easy. Found this at Winners and was totally into the hype: would this perfume choose me? Will we make a good match? Turns out, yes. We get along well. It's just a clean, bookish, laundry and paper scent that reminds me of a clean room and fresh sketch pads.
Maybe a bit of cedar. These "smell like nothing" perfumes tend to smell like fresh paper and pencil shavings on me. Im cool with that. I quite like it. So naturally my husband is my next victim and he generously offers his arm. "Nope," he says. "No no nonono, it smells like burnt popcorn." Then he went to scrub it off. "Oh? It mustn't like you!" "It friggin' HATES me." I gambled this time and I won, but perhaps test it if you can.
I have been layering it with different scents but I am still exploring that and I haven't noticed much change, which is probably good. Im so curious to follow this through the seasons. I got a few samples today, and this was one of them. I was very excited to try it out, as it has a few notes and is supposed to "melt" to your body chemistry.
Luckily, it goes nicely with mine! It has a fresh, citrus-lemony smell with a sort of musk that radiates off of my skin. However, it isn't the same for everyone. I would recommend you try a sample before a full bottle, because it isn't guaranteed that it will be a match for you. I can guess that whoever buys “niche” fragrances would like to have something “out of the box” for the paid money. So the perfume designers are trying to create something overly exquisite and exclusive with a poshness overdose and a lack of taste sometimes.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t get why such smell should even exist - to be precise, it smells like nothing. I’m glad I’ve just received a 5ml sample out of an advent calendar, otherwise I’d be mad to purchase it intentionally. I’ll not complain about my lower shelf collection after smelling this again. I gotta stop buying 100ml bottles…*sigh* This perfume is good, but it just doesn’t last enough and, for what you actually pay, but I think it’s not worth it.
Yes it smells clean, reminds me a bit of Bulgari pour homme that was launched in the 90’s (I love it!) but after generously spraying it over, it would become a skin scent after no time. Yes, I know it’s the type of perfume that is not supposed to be a perfume, but still… I think for the price there are better scents out there. Upon first spraying this, I’m overwhelmed by the scent of rubbing alcohol. I smell nothing else. After it dries, there’s a skin scent that consists of musk and the tiniest bit of sweetness.
There’s still a hint of rubbing alcohol too. After 15 minutes, I’m reaching for something else to cover this up. This doesn’t jive with my body chemistry. Bummer. This confuses me. Haven't smelled anything like this. If I were to explain how it smelled on myself I would say its very soft and subtle. It doesn't punch you in the face and it almost becomes unnoticeable? It smells faintly of woods and the slightest touch of.mint?? It almost blends into your body chemistry and amplifies how you would naturally smell but better??
Like how you would "think" someone smells naturally good without wearing anything. If I smelled this on someone else I don't think i'd think they were wearing anything, rather, id probably not notice it or think it was a natural scent that came from their house. Which can be good because it means they don't smell bad right? I bought the discovery kit to try this out, especially after hearing how it truly depends on your skin chemistry. Today I'm trying this out, and so far it really reminds me of "Ellewood" from Abercrombie.
Where it has this light clean bergamot scent to it? It DEFINITELY does NOT have silage and lasting power is average. This is a scent for the days you want to wear something that's a step above nothing. But then there's the dilemma. is it worth the price tag to just smell cleaner? That I'm not sure. I'm going to continue to try it out, as well as mix it with the other scents in the line. Perhaps it'll do better as a mixer/base for the other JHAG perfumes. I think this perfume ultimately comes down to your body chemistry.
It smelled nice on me but I was not blown away by it. It smelled very juliette has a gun not a perfume and clean, which I like, but it was just kind of boring on my skin.
I ended up giving it to my best friend (who is not a big perfume wearer) and she loves it. If you want something that will make you smell nice but doesn't really make a statement and isn't obvious that you're wearing perfume, this might work for you. I smelled this with my aunt at a perfume shop a few months back and from the ‚bottle sniff‘ we got: soft, musky, pure, baby powder like.
On skin though it smells so much different. Thanks to the amazingly weird chemistry of the ambroxan, it reacts to your body chemistry and smells different on everyone. For example on me, I smell musk and wood. Slightly sweet, a bit warm. A perfect skin scent. On my boyfriend it smells woody, lemony, fresher than me. On my aunt it smells the same as on me, but sweeter! And the crazy thing is, just because I smell it like that, doesn’t mean other people smell it the same way on me when I wear it.
For all I know I might smell like fermented apples and mossy wood to someone 😂 but NAP is so addicting and fun that it has become one of my favourite scents ever I am a fan of skin scents (I love Glossier You, I like Another 13) so I like the idea of this. I unfortunately HATED this on me and I don't easily hate perfumes. You'd think this should be an inoffensive scent but it was super bitter, synthetic and animalic on me. It didn't smell like skin or musk at all.
I think this is one of those perfumes that is so so dependant on your skin chemistry so you have to try this on yourself instead of just going by the reviews. This could work beautifully on you or not at all. This is definitely one to get a sample first instead of blind buying the bottle! I love the concept of this. A perfume that has a different smell on everyone. Do not try it on paper, or you won't smell anything. Try it on your skin and feel how the smell slowly adapts to you.
I tried it on different days and the first time I thought it smelled like light blue from Dolce Gabanna, and the next day it smelled soapy and creamy. My gf does not enjoy wearing perfume and this is the only perfume she uses, as it does not give headaches. Very inoffesive and beautiful. Try it! I understand why this fragrance is polarizing: it is very simple and linear, and as the name says, it's "not a perfume." Yet, it's that minimalism that makes me love it.
It's perfect for everyday, even for those moments that one may not typically deem "perfume-worthy." It does for one's scent what an ideal nude lipstick does for the mouth - it enhances and beautifies without becoming obvious as a thing in itself. People are more likely to say, "You smell great," rather than "I love your perfume!" Because it is a clean-smelling neutral scent which stays close to the skin, it's excellent to wear to the office.
It's sexy for nighttime in a low-key, confident-with-oneself kind of way. I appreciate that it is hypoallergenic as I juliette has a gun not a perfume worn it in close quarters with people who are often sensitive to fragrances, without them experiencing any discomfort. When you have perfume decision fatigue, this is great as a default go-to. I know this is backwards since it’s completely synthetic but I’d call it a “natural” smell. This is a nice scent but I can sometimes get bored of it when I’m wearing it, probably because it lacks complexity.
I enjoy it by itself for the first hour and then layer it with something else. And it can layer well with just about anything to vastly expand your fragrance wardrobe. Dirty. It smells like warm skin, body odor, and that note in Chanel Chance Eau Tendre that ruins the whole perfume. The brand describes this scent as "clean" and "pure," which does not match my experience at all.
I could actually see someone layering this under a clean and fresh smelling fragrance to make it more dirty. I tried spraying this on paper before spraying on skin, and it smells about the same to me regardless of where it is sprayed.
I did not care for it at all. Performance is very good, and I could still smell this on my skin a day later. Is there a fragrance out there that causes more controversy than Not a Perfume? If you do not know, this is a single note fragrance. Cetalox is all that is used to compose the top, heart, and base notes.
Because of this unique “composition”, the fragrance can and will smell different on everyone. To find out if you like it, you simply must get a sample and put it on your skin to try it. I absolutely love the way this fragrance on my skin. I stood next to a friend who applied it at the same time and it smells like a chemical fire on her. (As a side note, the Superdose smells like a chemical fire on me.) What Juliette Has A Gun did here is unbelievable and indescribable.
You simply must try this fragrance to see where you land on the spectrum of Not a Perfume. I blind bought this and never felt so confused in my life about a perfume. How is this so popular 😳?? Sorry to all those that love it but 😬 it’s a no from me dawg. It’s just too strange :/, an instant return for me. Performance was abysmal (had to spray a billion times and even then couldn’t smell it unless I put my nose to my skin) and the scent was even worse 😭.
It was a bit alcoholy initially and smells like musty tree sap. Not for me :( I have not been to this site in a few years but had to return after finally sampling this NOT perfume. This is the most interesting scent I have ever worn, and upon reading the reviews I felt I needed to come in and explain something I've figured out.
this will either work for you or not - and nobody's reviews on here, positive or negative, will give you any idea as to whether you will like it or not - unless you try it for yourself (No, NOT on a paper strip. On your skin). I remember going into Sephora a while ago and testing it on paper.
I thought it smelled masculine and bland/almost like pure alcohol. Did not even bother to put it on my wrist because in my opinion, it was not salvageable. Flash forward to this week, when I decided to give it a shot and used my Sephora points to get a travel spray. And O-M-G is it delicious on my wrists. It has very low sillage, but the staying power is enormous and will last you all day from morning to night.
On my skin, in particular, it smells exactly like Bvlgari's Au the Blanc, but NOT the perfume. the body wash, and especially how the body wash smells when you use it for a bubble bath. However, on you, it is going to smell completely different. As you will see below, no two reviews are the same. Because no two bodies are the same. And I think that's what makes this so cool and unique. :) I finally got my hands on Not A Perfume after wanting to try it for so long.
The first day I wore it, I was not won over - it smelled like baby's skin and I was not in love. However, I gave it another chance the next day and it smelled different - and much better. I know it's not present, but I swear I smell a faint citrus note at the top. Maybe this is coming from Not A Perfume amplifying the remnants of my orange-scented body wash?
(I'll have to test this with different shower gel scents in the future). After it settles into my skin more, it becomes a wonderful, creamy musk and it lasts forever.
This smelled nice when I sprayed it on paper but when I sprayed it on my skin it turned bitter and rotten. for me most perfumes usually smell pretty close to the scent on the paper strip on my skin but this one just didn't work with my body chemistry at all. Definitely sample this before you buy and test it on your skin not just the paper strip. Sephora frequently has this as a free sample. "Not A Perfume" is, much like the name states, not a perfume.
I could barely smell it on paper, and it turned into a vaguely smoky, chemical-ridden disaster on my skin. It became ever-so-slightly more tolerable the longer it lasted, juliette has a gun not a perfume wasn't very long, but that wasn't enough to redeem it. That being said, this perfume is highly dependent on individual skin chemistry, so it may work perfectly for you.
Try it if you'd like to, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work out. 'Not A Perfume by Juliette Has A Gun is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women.' -Fragrantica Seriously, whoever says this thing is a 'floral woody musk' fragrance should have their nose operated.
How on earth is a fragrance that is composed entirely of ambroxan and cetalox considered floral woody musk? Just say it's a synthetic chemical fragrance for unisex. That would be closer to the truth. I was convinced I would like this after hunting for an amber musk and smelling this at the store on paper, but the wonderful woman at Sephora told me she would not allow me to purchase unless I took home a sample and tried it out to make sure.
I'm so glad she stopped me! On me the ambroxan turns into an overwhelming ethanol scent. I smell like that moment the nurse cleans your arm with the little alcohol wipe right before she gives you a shot. One spray on my arm was very strong and lasted all day and was still there after a shower!
I will be hanging on to my sample to try in the summer to see if that warms up the scent any, but for me this is a strong pass for now.
I got this as a Sephora rewards gift and on paper it smells very, basic, unremarkable, but on my skin it just turns absolutely terrible, smells like a smokers house, like a couch that’s been subject to decades of cigarette smoke.
I was really excited about this perfume as I’ve seen it all over the place and heard great things so this was very unexpected, I think I’ll give it a couple days and try again, maybe see what other people smell but until then I’m somewhat disappointed,, My first date with molecules.
The idea of allergy free perfume is intriguing and especially from my fav brand JHAG. It starts very unusual. Plastic. Sticky. After 2h turns to Omnia Cristalline smell, but with stronger silage and little more depth. Clean, woody, cold.
I can’t say it’s bad but I’ll think twice before deciding if if stays or goes. This one is better than the first three samples I got from the discovery kit. But there's still a slight detergent DNA that I detect.
It juliette has a gun not a perfume be the ambroxan.
To me, this reminds me of a librarian. Not the least bit sexy; more like functional. Like, you're pissed off in the morning and don't feel kind, or friendly, but you still want to wear a scent. Choose this one. very nice skin-smelling scent! i found it to be light, woody, salty, and very slightly sweet; almost vanilla.
i only have the sample so i wasn't able to spray, so maybe the sillage/longevity is different than i experienced. but i found it to be not very long lasting, with intimate sillage. perhaps i should use more vaseline/lotion next time to make it stick?
kind of to be expected from such a subtle perfume. overall i really enjoyed this perfume and would wear again + would consider buying the full bottle! A “my skin but better” fragrance. I love this scent because it blends with me (if that makes sense).
I get a lot of compliments when I’m wearing it. If you find that the common note in all of your favourite fragrances is amber, try a sampler and see how your natural scent reacts.
It’s a hit for me, but a miss for other people. All depends on your chemistry. If you’re searching for an elevated fruitier/sweeter version, look up Pear Inc. Both are fantastic.
I got a sample of this and my husband loves it on me. To me it smells like bubble bath, very fresh, fruity, clean and playful at the same time. It doesn't give me the sexiness vibe that I'm looking for but I could see me wearing it on a daily basis to just smell nice.
It's not overwhelming and has a relatively good duration. I like this one very much. Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long. But the scent is really nice, little bit sweet, really warm. If it was stronger and longer lasting, I would probably buy the full bottle. Update: On month later and I have purchased a 100 ml bottle. I am so in love with this scent and it works magic on my skin.
It gives me the confidence I need! This scent is very confusing and I can’t decide how I feel about it. I tried a tester at the store and only put on a tiny spritz, but surprisingly, it started off very strong and sharp. After I left the store, I got a pleasant, sweet, and clean scent that was still fairly strong.
A few hours later, I still easily smell it on myself. From afar, it’s pleasant, but up close, I get graphite/pencil shavings? Update: I still smell it after a shower and a night’s sleep. This is probably the longest lasting perfume I’ve tried (or, my nose is particularly sensitive to this note). This skin scent is really hard to describe. Very subtle, a bit woody/green with just a tad of sweetness. It is NOT a perfume indeed, it’s just “your skin but better”, as they say. I’m not 100% convinced by this scent yet, but it leaves me with this comforting feeling of smelling nice and clean all day, so I might end up buying a bottle.
Who knows. At the first i was thinking it’s a useless perfume. There’s no point of you’re wearing a perfume but people could barely smell it on you. Up until one day i saw the travel size of Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume with a good deal. I bought it. I was skeptical but still curious about the hype. When it came, opened the package with no excitement, casually sprayed it on my wrist and totally forgot about it.
Hours by hours i kept smelling something fresh, musky, woody, a hint of sweetness and i like it a lot. Then I realized it came from this perfume! Completely change my thought about this perfume. It is the definition of skin scent but better. Great for daily wear and office scent or when you want to be discreet.
It last eternally on my skin, even after shower. Understand the longevity and the scent might have different chemistry with anybody. Please note that I’m living in a tropical country that has high level of humidity. Usually perfume with 8 hours longevity only last for 4-5 hours on me. But this one, is a badass. For sillage don’t expect much from this perfume. It’s a perfume for your own pleasure, or people who sit next to you. Overall i would say, i love it and planning to buy the full size because i love how it smells on me.
I always feared I can’t really smell ambroxan, and this one just makes me a little confused. I can smell it, and it smells absolutely divine, but I literally have to shove my nose into my wrists to smell it at all. I guess that’s what they mean by Not a Perfume. What I DO smell when I’m up close to it is a sugary orange scent. Kind of smells like an orange creamsicle, but without the vanilla note and more of a vague creaminess, and DEFINITELY the wooden scent/taste of the birch popsicle stick.
If this had better projection, it would have been a solid 8.5! I l’ll try layering it with Vanilla Insensee to see if I can get it closer to the creamsicle scent and make the orange note shine. Edit: Layering it with a vanilla scent was incredible. I love Vanilla Insensee, but it’s not a particularly sweet fragrance.
With NaP on top, it became beautifully sugary but not juliette has a gun not a perfume a cloying way. It also gave VI an almost sparkling quality, if that makes sense? I smell less of the orange from NaP on its own, but it definitely shines when layered! i know this one is controversial, but i'm a fan! it's not the strongest, so i like to layer it to add a bit of depth & warmth to another fragrance. however, i would definitely say that i prefer the superdose, as it lasts much longer on my skin.
i haven't splurged on a full bottle of the superdose yet, though. but maybe i will soon! I’m juliette has a gun not a perfume upset. On me, this smells like a hospital. Sterile plastic with a little mustiness. It’s also similar to rubbing alcohol. It’s pretty funny, my husband thought I smelled like a nice musk though I didn’t get that AT ALL. I guess my nose just doesn’t like ambroxan. Big ups to Sephora for handing samples of this out like candy so I could find out this is extremely not for me.
It’s cool that I now know what ambroxan smells like though (it’s absolutely got to be in Juliette has a gun not a perfume Blue). I would say to try it and see if it works for your nose and body chemistry. Or maybe it would be good for someone talented at layering scents, it’s supposed to be a base note. Clean and woody, this is great for layering, not for wearing alone though.
I have to literally touch my nose with my wrist to smell it. As a natural perfume, I knew it was going to behave this way, so after being prepared for the minimum projection.I actually really love it.
Update: Today i sprayed this again and i smell nothing but rubbing alcohol. How can this be? This perfume is very confusing 😕 Wow, I'm just starting to appreciate perfumes, so I ordered a free sample of this with my last Sephora order.
It smelled amazing to me in the tester, so I was excited to try it today. I'm actually kind of blown away at how good this stuff smells on my skin. I got a second opinion from my husband, and it caused a. reaction of sorts. He told me it smells just like *me*, in a very intimate way.
Before he said that, I was thinking I was crazy juliette has a gun not a perfume thinking it. Now, reading the reviews, I see we don't all have that same experience which is crazy! I'm a little bit worried I'll be walking around thinking I smell beautiful and sexy, and the occasional person is going to wonder why I smell like sweat and ammonia, LOL. I guess I'll wear it here and there and try to get my friends' opinions on it when I can, to see if that's an issue.
Anyone have recommendations on what to layer this with? I'm thinking it would go really well with something that has more sillage. The name on this one is so fitting for me. To my nose this is a bottle of water. I smell nothing, it's definitely not a perfume!. I know others can smell it.
The first time I sampled it, I sprayed a bit heavy (at least half of the sample) because I couldn't smell anything. I met up with a couple of friends. One of them found it so strong that it was giving her a headache and the other didn't think I was wearing fragrance at all. I don't know what it is that makes me anosimic to this one. I have a sample of Molecule 02, which is also ambroxan and I smell a beautifully clean, slightly woody scent that lasts forever and projects quite well.
It might be how JHAG composes their fragrances. I have a sample set and I find all of their fragrances in the set a bit empty. They are all a bit thin and lacking something.
I think others can smell something that is invisible to my nose. Because of it's unpredictability this is not a safe blind buy. Because of my experience I would even caution people that can smell other molecule fragrances against blind buying this one.
I have a 5ml travel spray that came as part of that travel set. I plan to try it with a couple other fragrances to see if it helps with their performance, even if i can't smell this fragrance itself. This was sent to me by mistake when I ordered another Juliette scent, and I decided to try it despite my disdain for musk. If this is just an isolated scent molecule…then it IS a perfume 😏 Amber is usually a very pleasant note to my nose but I’m not getting amber vibes.
It smells musk-ish and soapy, maybe clinical or industrial, as if to mask or eliminate other odors instead of compliment them.
Something about this scent reminds me of Byredo’s Gypsy Water. So, I can’t smell iso-e super. Have tried it on its own and can’t smell anything. I thought I could smell ambroxan, but I guess this proves that I can’t. Or cetalox. Or whatever large synthetic aromachemical is in here.
This smells like lime flavoured tonic water - like a slight tinge of synthetic sweet lime in your fizzy tonic water. It is getting sweeter over time, like someone’s popped some sugar in it. And only if I smell where I sprayed. Zero sillage. Yet another Emporer’s new clothes, I’m so sad for the future of perfume if these large-molecule synthetic ingredients are the way of the future 😢 There’s something very weird and a bit scary about wearing scents when you don’t know how they will smell to others.
And the WORST part is, that how it smells is less to do with your body chemistry and more to do with if other people’s nose receptors can detect the large molecules. It’s utterly ridiculous that people buy these scents, walking round every day with no idea how they smell to others. If it wasn’t so sad it’d be funny. At least most scents containing these things have other things in them too, so you can smell something, but no wonder there is such disagreement on what things smell like, when half of us can’t smell half the ingredients.
It's a your skin but better scent, you can't smell it unless you sniff close to the skin. Unless you sweat, this perfume is undetectable. However, it's perfect for layering, it adds a nice clean scent to any ordinary perfume. My friend said it smelled faintly of burnt cigarettes. I smelled a clean linen/woody scent, not the clean soapy kind.
This scent reacts differently on everyone. It smells clean on me but like body odor on my brother. It also smells different for everyone, strange and fascinating.
Not worth the money, id consider buying dupes for layering Very musky but fresh scent on my skin. Would see this layering well with a citrus scent. Smells clean, all of the "your skin but better" reviews rings true for me as well. Definitely good for days when you don't want a strong scent. Very inoffensive. Lasts forever on me, 18 hours and it's still going strong.
This is described as a amber, musky, and woody fragrance. But as a lover of amber and woody fragrances, this is just basic linear musk. It's not a scent I would wear or would juliette has a gun not a perfume to smell on anyone I'm in close quarters with. It has the DNA of a Montale Musk before any other notes are added. But for those who like this fragrance the pros are that it lasts 7+ hrs and if on clothes its there til you wash it off.
Projection is beast as well which is what we all want in a fragrance we really like especially at this price point. Maybe I'll find something I can layer it with but if not I'll probably just pass it off as a stocking juliette has a gun not a perfume. Weird. Strange. Unreliable. You must be in the right mood for this fragrance AND not care if it goes amok that day.
Sometimes it's sweet, sometimes it's a clean musk, sometimes it's smooth, sometimes it's harsh, sometimes it's warm, sometimes it's very sterile/antiseptic.
I'm into weird and strange scents, they are some of my favorites, but unreliable smells are a problem. This is more of a novelty in my collection than anything else. It is fun to share a spritz with others to compare how it develops that day but that's about it. Perfectly unisex. I am so insanely confused about this perfume. The first small travel bottle I had I felt confused about, and then suddenlyone day I sprayed it in my car in the Southern California heat it became so insanely beautiful.
I wore it everyday to work after that, and totally understood the hype. A few days ago I sprayed a sample in Sephora, same delicious scent as before. I bought another small bottle, and I hate it now. I smell all the bad things people are writing about, and now I am wondering if there are some ""bad" batches of this in existence? The way sometimes carrots taste off?
I am so confused and upset! I am wondering however, if it is due to the change in weather. I am now in cold, dry San Francisco. I will try it again when I'm somewhere warm.
In summary, if you get a time and place where it works, it really really works. There's a myth about this perfume. When I first got it, I opened the box and sprayed it I was like what?
Is this a bad batch? becuase I dont smell anything. So I was thinking there it is, money down the drain considering its ridiculous price. The same evening I went for a dinner with a male friend. He quickly detected my fragrance and gave a compliment(we were not intimate).
I was confused because I still can't smell anything myself. After a few days he asked me for dinner again. I remembered he liked this perfume last time so I wear it again. This time I can smell more than last time but juliette has a gun not a perfume nothing impressiveve. At our dinner this guy became a vacuum machine.
At one point he picked up my arm to his nose and sniffed multiple times like a creep. However, I still don't get how to appreciate this perfume myself. The pros about this one is that it is super long wearing. I still smell it even after I take a shower. I would not recommend buying it unless you tried it first and get something so weirdly fascinating from it just like my friend.
Very similar to dedcool’s Milk and Kuumba Made’s Persian Garden. I get a clean salty caramel from it. It’s super close to the skin and takes a while to open up. At first I kept getting a gasoline smell. I prefer Dedcool and Kuumba because they don’t have the gasoline element and are a bit more crisp if you like this kind of thing.
Opens very fresh, definitely a very clean musk. Like fresh air in a forest but somehow lightly sweet. The woodyness is there but it's more in the background to my nose. I'd say it's unisex as a solinote perfume, but I think it has a lot of potential for layering with other perfumes.
This is definitely a "safe"/people pleaser perfume. I can imagine it being great for spring/summer by itself.
If I were to wear it in the fall/winter I would probably layer it with either a woody scent or another kind of musk that isn't the fresh/clean type. Definitely a skin scent. I love perfume and I don’t shy away from unique scents. But, on me this smells like alcohol and some type of ammonia. I left it on for about two hours hoping to get that oceanic or musky fragrance others experienced.
Ultimately, I ended up smelling like an old man in a hospital. Not exactly something a woman wants to smell like! I had to take a shower to get rid of it.
Sorry! I want you to imagine walking into a small windowless upholstered room with multiple boxes of cat litter. Now imagine this room is filled with cats, hamsters, and sweating dogs. Animal body odor. This is what I get. And on my skin this is disgusting. It may or may not be the fragrance and I just have to chalk it up to a skin chemistry sort of thing.
Got this in the JHAG discovery kit and liked it as a "close" smell, something reserved for more intimate moments. This is not a fragrance people will smell on you if you're in the same room, you've gotta be CLOSE to smell it.
After using up my discovery kit sample, I stumbled upon a full-size for $60 at Marshall's (it's usually $100) and couldn't say no. It's a perfect mixer as well; it combines well with just about any perfume and gives it a kind of amber-y "oomph" that adds some depth, juliette has a gun not a perfume to cheaper or less complex perfumes.
My decant has just arrived and I have tried it on my wrist just one puff 10 minutes ago. I get the similarity with the DG Light Blue, but just similarity, I would say, it reminds me of DG. I also get the ammonia note which some of the fragranticians mentioned, it did not disturb me. Actually, I can understand how it may smell very good on some people. I need some more time to make a keen comment since it has been just 10 minutes after I have tried it but I can say I found it nice.
I will re edit after sometime Actually this is not going to be a review but rather a best juliette has a gun not a perfume text about my upcoming JHAG Not a perfume experience.
I ordered a decant and while waiting for my purchase to arrive, I wanted to spend sometime reading the reviews, especially the positive ones since I made a blind buy though it is a decant it is some investment :)) I am a BR540 fan and I think that's the end of my frgarance search, nothing could be like it, it is kinda nirvana of scents. But there's a problem about it that, it works kinda appetizer for me. Whenever I wear it, I want to eat sweets and calorie high stuff, which is a huuuge problem :((((( I had to look for something else to replace it as fragrance and I decided to give JHAG a try.
We will see the results. I bought the travel size after a youtuber, It's MJ reviewed it. Initially it was a sharp slightly musky scent but after a few hours as I walked through the office, it had changed to this lovely clean scent with just a hint of sweet floral.
The sillage was excellent and the scent lasted approximately 8 hours. I'm glad I took a chance and tried it but will not purchase a full bottle due to the high cost.
This is one of my staples, it’s an EXTREMELY intimate musk scent, you can’t smell it on yourself but you WILL smell good to others. I have gotten compliments on it and people asking what perfume I’m wearing, but I do douse myself in it when I wear it. It’s my safe scent because I have people juliette has a gun not a perfume my life who are (unfortunately for me) very sensitive to scents.
I know a lot of people don’t like this because they say it smells like nothing, but if you’re curious about it try the travel spray. I have gone through multiple bottles of this and will always have it on hand.
I will defend Vanilla Vibes, but Juliette Has a Gun will always be a house for grandmas who think they’re rebels because they heard a P!nk song on the radio once. I needed to get that out of the way. This is a bad fragrance. If it has zero projection and you can’t even figure out what it’s going for then it sucks. I thought we agreed on that. We’re willing to bash other perfumes when they don’t leave an inch off of the skin and disappear within five minutes, juliette has a gun not a perfume when we get something “experimental” we can cast away all logic and praise it as genius?
We shouldn’t. This entire review section is full of delusional blind buyers who would rather lie to themselves than admit that this smells faintly of grandpa’s worn out skin and walk away at least with their humility. I see the argument that this was made for layering. You don’t see anything wrong with that picture?
I need to cover this up with a fragrance I already like for it to smell good? Are you kidding? That’s not how that should work. If a perfume at this price is specifically made to enhance another fragrance, it better make AXE smell like Dior Homme.
And then I hear that it’s different on everyone’s skin, which most perfumes are. Even if you do have the best skin ever for this fragrance, I guess what you get is Light Blue.
Awesome. That’ll really set you apart. Please just admit that this sucks. Please. I ordered a sample after hearing rave reviews. It's weird, smells kind of like a grandmother's closet, but you never know so I put it on. My husband hated it so much he gagged. I had to throw it out. I love light, aquatic, or floral perfumes but can get behind a musk.
This smelled like a funeral home on me. I tend to favor fruity gourmand fragrances, so this isn't something I'd usually go for.
On me, it just smells like clean skin—not in an especially fresh or aquatic way, but more so like a subtle, mildly warm and faint musk—and freshly washed hair.
It's pleasant and not offensive/ headache-inducing, but I wouldn't pay for it (i got my mini travel spray w/ my points from Sephora); it's pricey for a close-to-skin scent. This is really not a stand alone perfume. It's meant to be used to layer with other scents.
A lot of people aren't really understanding this and ending up feeling underwhelmed and/or disappointed. Please don't give up on it. Experiment with it. Layer it with other perfumes. It's a staple in my collection for this reason. It will make you smell better than the next person wearing the same perfume as you are.
Trust me. This is the most unique perfume I have ever tried. It’s light yet spicy, it’s fresh yet warm. It had almost citrusy and airy quality to it but the greatest complexity to it.
I have been searching for something like this for years waiting to be impressed since a lot of new women’s perfumes are so heavy and sweet that lack a zing to them. I have always been so attracted to the amboxan and cetalox notes in men’s colognes that give them a spicy depth and always hoped I could find something that has that quality that I could wear. So yes this is it ! I have to spray it like 10 times to feel like I will smell it. On my skin it has very little siliage or staying power but strangely I can always smell it on my clothes several days later when I’m sorting my laundry.
I think you can definitely go nose-blind to it, and I definitely do, but I always carry a mini in my purse to re apply it. As a bonus, my boyfriend says it’s his favorite perfume of mine because it’s so unique and different than anything else he has smelled. No one has ever ever told me I smell good when I’m wearing it, maybe because no one else can smell it or no one else likes it?! Since I wish it had more siliage and staying powerI tried the superdose version of this, but it is not as feminine as almost too in juliette has a gun not a perfume face, so I will stick with this and just spray it a bunch and bathe in it … Its my signature scent perfect for any season, any time of day or night.
It’s so amazing that I don’t care about siliagegoing nose blind or staying power. I love it ! Reading through the reviews, I am both relieved and amused. On me, it smelled like nothing. Literally. Maybe just a touch of powder? But mostly nothing.
Kind of relieved it wasn't just my nose being defective, since it seems to smell like nothing on others as well. VERY relieved it didn't smell like cat litter, hamsters, or any of the other things that some people get from it!
I guess it's very dependent on body chemistry, eh? Definitely glad I never blind bought this, and was able to try a sample instead. i like this! on me it's very extremely musky but that's fine i think it's super pretty! i was worried it wouldn't work on my skin but to my surprise it really is very nice! it also has good longevity and juliette has a gun not a perfume. i would say it's important to try it out before you buy though as i have seen extremely mixed reviews on it.
i think it's a pretty good fragrance, but their claims that it's 🚨unlike anything else👹 aren't accurate to me, i've definitely smelled something like it before.
let me just say I blind bought this at winners for $80 after it had been on my unobtainable-due-to-price wish list and wow. it’s like a clean hug. totally a skin scent for me, I put it on before bed and after showers to feel peaceful. lovely as a base as well 😍😍 what made it a love is the bottle 🥵 it’s everything, it’s beautiful, it makes you feel rich with its frosted glass and 1lb cap and even the box packaging is boujee 😂 I’m sorry, but I have to address the Juliette Has a Gun bit.
Why not Juliette Has a Machete? Or, Juliette Has a Sword? Too Game of Thrones? Or, Juliette Has a Screwdriver and you better watch out! :) Anyway, this smells almost EXACTLY like D & G Light Blue on me, but maybe less citrusy, and I don’t know, less blue.
It’s Light Blue streamlined and distilled. It basically smells like a squeaky clean floral/woody/salty musk. It lasts a long time on me, and even though it smells like another perfume already out there (at least to me), I dig it. It’s crisp, clean as I mentioned, and easy to throw on when you’re not sure what to wear. Reminds me of sunshine, lemonade, and the ocean. Or maybe that was the marketing for Light Blue. It definitely doesn’t remind me of a woman with a machete though.
(You guys, I’m just making fun of all the weird marketing around perfume.) If someone gave me a bottle of this, I wouldn’t be mad at ‘em. I would happily wear it. Edit: This perfume lasted about 12 hours on my skin and lasted through a shower after that. Extreme longevity on me. Also, I can smell this on myself all day, as well as on my clothes.
I don’t get “nose blind” to it like others seem to. Edit: This has started to grow on me. I wore it to the beach in the Pacific Northwest on a cold, windy day and it just meshed really well with the environment. I have good memories of that day so now when I smell this “perfume” I get a happy feeling. 😁 I can see why this none-perfume would divide opinions and admit that it is not for everyone, but I really enjoy it.
Definitely not a safe blind buy due to how different it can smell depending on your skin. I smell the similarities to Light Blue but it has a muskier edge and feels warmer somehow. On me it is slight white floral, clean laundry and delicate musk. I LOVE it. Perfect for days where you don't know what to wear, or if you fancy something cosy and light. Most of my family (and even my 85 year old grandma!) complimented my scent while wearing this, and said it was very pleasant and unlike anything else that they had experienced before.
I find that I cannot smell it so much when first I spray it onto my skin/hair, but after a few minutes the scent really blooms and lasts for most of the day.
It lasts on my hair for much longer, sometimes even lingering after a shower. Suitable for all seasons imo, it really is clean and unique and unusual. Very pleased to have this one in my collection (and even more pleased to say that I love it!) Upon first spray, I DEFINITELY smell this. On paper it smells like a generic laundry powder, basic and clean. On skin however, the muskyness comes alive and develops juliette has a gun not a perfume a warm radiant scent.
It's almost like a "skin glow" and not a particular recognizable scent. A peculiar thing happens when layering ambroxan with another fragrance, it disappears and only acts as an enhancer to the other scent - even if it's something you sprayed the day before!
It magnifies what it touches. I don’t know what I expected from Not A Perfume, but I DEFINITELY did not expect to like it. To be honest I’m not really a fan of this type of scents, but reading so many different reviews and hearing about it smelling different on everyone made me really curious about how it’ll perform on my skin. I was not a fan of what it smelled like in the bottle at all, but I guess in this case we all know that the scent in bottle and on the paper strip doesn’t mean anything so I let the salesman spray my entire forearm with it.
And boy was that a journey. At first it just disappeared. Like it was water. It didn’t smell like anything at all. After around 10 minutes I was hit with a wave of regret as it started to smell just extremely musky. Or musty if you will. I felt dirty and had the strong desire to wash it off, but since I was en route to dinner with a friend I couldn’t.
But 20 minutes later it completely changed. It turned into this very clean, warm scent. Like a freshly washed, still warm from the dryer cashmere sweater and so it had me hooked. Interestingly enough Not A Perfume was gaining intensity on my skin throughout the day. Once I started to like the scent I was pretty disappointed with how close to skin it was, although I was expecting it.
However as time passed it kept becoming more noticeable and earned me quite a few compliments. The longevity was okay, around 4 hours.
Now is it extremely overpriced? Yes. Was it still an incredibly interesting experience? Also yes. It’s really hard to recommend Not A Perfume because it’s just different on everyone. DO NOT buy it without trying it first, but also don’t let the negative reviews discourage you from trying it. Give it a try and don’t make your final judgement too quickly. I was a bit disappointed. It started out as a pretty awesome musk but failed to "bloom." I would compare the start to skin musk.
It was nice enough. It did smell a bit synthetic. I felt like the musk needed to be tempered or blended with something else. It seemed bare. Then the amber took over. Which amber tends to turn dirty smelling on me. I'll stick to my $12 Bonne Bell Skin Musk. It smells 100 times better and it was cheaper. Amazing. I wasn't super in love with this the first time I tried a sample, but I came back to it a few months later and fell in love with it enough to buy a travel spray (I rarely buy full bottles, and I try to make it a rule to go through a sample before I buy even a travel spray).
A good daytime fragrance. Safe to wear to the office. Clean yet softly intruiging. I purchased a 15ml bottle of 10% Cetalox in DPG from Perfumer's Apprentice over a year ago. I have studied this material intensely. "Not a Perfume" is not just Cetalox. There are other chemicals present.
Pure Cetalox is a silvery, metallic, woody, sultry and beautiful scent devoid of any hard edges. "Hot Sand" as I've heard it described. It's like a refined, slightly more feminine, and beautiful version of Ambroxan (which I've purchased from Perfumer's Supply House and studied intently). "Not a Perfume" has a strong signature note of woody-ambers.
Rubbing alcohol, scratchy, sandpaper for your nose. It's stronger than the silvery breeze of Cetalox. Ambrocenide, norlimbanol, cedramber or closely related chemical relatives surely accompany Cetalox in this "perfume". I'm convinced that "Not a Perfume" contains more than just Cetalox.
This is so interesting. Given the range of experiences with this perfume, I was expecting juliette has a gun not a perfume to like it. My chemistry has a habit of brining out the more animalic, dirty musk notes in fragrances. I steer clear of anything with a leather or animalic note (even though I like those scents) because I know my body will pull those right out. Reading reviews of some people getting heavily animalic an unpleasant odor out of this made me certain that’s what I would get too.
I had avoided this fragrance for that reason, even though I’m a fan of amber and woods. I received a sample of this and wow— I’m actually getting what I want out of this. On me it’s slightly woody with subtly sweet cinnamon. Simple and somehow simultaneously cool and warm. Juliette has a gun not a perfume is definitely not a blind buy, apparently even for those who are certain it won’t work on them (like myself). Okay so I reallyyyyy wanted to try this so I got the discovery box.
And when I tell you this perfume straight up smells like cheap mouth wash and alcohol I’m not lying. It gave me an instant headache and it’s not worth the hype in my opinion. I’m sure it smells great on other people it just does not work with my skin chemistry. Love vanilla vibes tho <33 Simply put, Not a Perfume smells like a confusing mix of that warm laundry blast you get when you walk by a house or laundry mat and a musky, earthy body odor.
I may try mixing it with other perfumes to make them a little more musky and dirty, but as a standalone perfume, I'm not sure I get the appeal of smelling like synthetic sweat. I've been trying out this perfume for a long time, in different stores and seasons, and loved it every time. Finally decided to buy it and it's perfect for me! I'm a fan of gourmet, spicy perfumes and struggled for a long time to find a good fragrance for summer that I'll like.
Finally, found it. It's my perfect spring-summer, a daytime perfume that smells so clean and fresh, but musky and powdery at the same time.
I'm so happy it reacted well with my skin. I thought Bee by Zoologist was the worst thing to ever happen to my nose until I juliette has a gun not a perfume the mistake of spraying this abomination on my skin. This is chemical warfare. I'd imagine this is what Ricin smells like. Ricin and kitty litter.
Juliette has a gun not a perfume husband also recoiled at the stench and luckily for the both of us it would not scrub off so we got to smell it all day-what a joy. I don't think this is one for dry skin.
I love the idea of this. In practice though, it just wasn't for me. It seems that folks get really variable performance out of this perfume depending upon their body chemistry and nose.
Some people seem to get a lovely clean scent. I got hiking through the woods, seeing some trees all scratched up, then getting a terrifying whiff on the wind. The bear is close by. I freaking smelled like sasquatch in this. All the wrong kinds of animalistic musk for me.
I just blind bought this and when they say it’s not a perfume they mean it. I was wrongly expecting a light fresh fragrance which is my mistake. It smells exactly the same as Molecule 02 but with a hint of Molecule juliette has a gun not a perfume. If you have Molecule 02 you don’t need this.
It is just pure iso e super. I don’t dislike it I just wonder, since everyone kind of smells it stronger or weaker, how it is projecting to other people. It is quite masculine, I will say that.
It’s musty and woodsy with a hint of ‘pressed laundry’ - as in the smell of ironed linen. It’s not a safe blind buy. I’m going to ask what people think of it on me which might be interesting. Definitely not a safe blind buy, you need to test it and see if your body mixes with this. I purchased a sample and wore it for a week hoping to learn to appreciate it as others do but the musk note repulsed me, it assaults the back of my throat with its dryness.
Longevity was weak leaving my skin after 30 minutes, or I possibly became nose blind quickly. I feel as though a skin scent should still be experienced by the wearer longer than that. It smells of dentist office, musky, chemical dryness. 1/10 Tried on myself of my friend’s bottle and was pretty disappointed. At first spray I was the only one who could not smell this on me or my friends. I have a really good nose so I was very surprised.
Then after some time I got hints of D&G Light Blue, but was so minimal and really had to smell for it. Would much rather wear the real Light Blue to wear this sort of scent.
I don't know why I seem to be missing the 'fresh laundry' scent people are talking about. It smells a bit musty mixed with synthetically clean to the point of sharpness.
I do suspect my skin might be a factor as I've tried Glossier You and Molecule 01, and both of those show up a bit sharp on my skin. Perhaps my skin requires more complex scents or scents leaning more fruity/floral. But unfortunately this is a pass for me. Honestly, if you are expecting something out of this world and mind blowing with JHAG “Not a Perfume” you will be disappointed. However, it’s such a comforting scent. Everyone has already said that but I agree “it’s your skin but better”. Whenever I wear this scent I feel comforted and cozy, it’s sort of plays peekaboo with you throughout the wear.
It’s for days when I don’t want to experiment with anything and just want to smell good. I agree with others who find this fragrance retreating- moments after dousing myself in it, i have to tent the collar of my shirt around my nose to smell it.
that much said, it is very pleasant- clean and laundryish with a tart note that reminds me of red plums, and a staticky undercurrent that reminds my nose of newspaper. I'd wear it again, but wouldn't consider it buy-worthy due to its faintness. I tried this at the store and literally said "wow" out loud. It smelled like the part of D&G Light Blue that I love - something I can't describe: just a sexy, musky, unisex, clean smell. I bought a travel size. As I wore it as the day went on I got a headache and am regretting buying it.
I think I will juliette has a gun not a perfume returning. It smells like scented toilet roll lmao, like that generic smell most scented toilet rolls have. That isn’t even a negative from me either, I actually really like it.
Very clean and fresh - unbelievably light on me though. Only detected when I press my nose up to my skin.
I figured I maybe a little anosmic to ambroxan due to how gentle it is to my nose (not just in this, but pretty much all ambroxan fragrances) compared to comparisons of people finding it overwhelmingly strong. Difficult for me to detect when applied to my skin which it unfortunate because I was curious about its malleable nature.
I enjoy the whiffs that you get when applied to clothing, it often smells like fresh laundry. Other times, it gives me a sort of boring/dated vibe that I don't appreciate but also can't pinpoint in older style frags I've ever smelled.
Clean but too neat. smelled up close it makes me think of pencils/school. not sure why. I will try more with layering but have yet to find any interesting combos and if anything it seems to nullify a high-end natural perfume you may hope to extended A very clean and minimalistic perfume.
This one smells a bit like a laundromat to me.which I happen to really love. As a flight attendant, I gravitate towards fragrances that are "skin scents" because they're inoffensive. The longevity and performance of this one is very poor. I prefer "Another 13" by Le Labo, a perfume with similar notes but performs a lot better than this one. I'm a huge skin-scent-type-of-girl, and somehow I stumbled into Not A Perfume, and after reading a few reviews I ordered a sample to try.
And I am very happy I did, cause it's extremely interesting, and fascinating. It opens quite musky, and lightly spicy (which I really like), but melts very quickly into the skin (and beutifully so), leaving only a hint of something warm and musky, yet extremely powdery and soft. What came to my mind instantly when I smelled it the first time (and even more as it dried down) was cashmeran. It lingers as something intimate, warm and clean. And very elegant and minimalistic. And honestly rather sexy.
Being a skin-scent, projection and sillage are both poor. This doesn't fase me at all, since I wear my fragrance for myself, but it can be good to have in mind, especially since it's quite pricy. I urge you to get your hands on a sample, or try it somewhere, if you are into skin-scents, cause this is a jem. I notice myself smelling my wrist WAY to often and I'm already sad I'll be running out of my sample bottle soon.
Very nice. It's been said before, but I'll try to say it again a bit differently: this feels like the perfume equivalent of the "no make-up make-up look," a.k.a. "your skin, but better." It reminds me of the tail end of a sweet musk that's had time to be absorbed into your skin and mixes with sweat, so there's a natural sweet-savoury feel to it with a touch of woods.
To my nose, it doesn't smell synthetic, but I understand that people will have very different perceptions of it. I think this could be a really nice choice for perfume lovers who need to wear something inoffensive for the office or a setting where they don't want to disturb people. It's very intimate, but I can still smell it. The only con is the price, and I think you juliette has a gun not a perfume probably get a fairly similar experience by lightly applying a musky cedar scent.
When I first smelled it, I felt nothing. On a second sniff I felt something light and unspecified, so I sprayed it generously on the back of my palm and left the store. Boy I hated this smell when I was driving home!
It reminded me of a juliette has a gun not a perfume animal body, very animalic and not in a good way, it made me nauseous, I couldn't stand it! A few hours later the carrion part of the smell was gone and I smelled something very attractive, I really liked how the fragrance opened up, but not enough to buy a bottle just yet.
I was buying another perfume's full bottle yesterday and decided to get this as a sample to try again. We'll see. Sephora is doing a great job introducing people to ambroxan and single note fragrances. On discounters, it isn't that expensive, but some people do buy retail at Sephora so yes this can be expensive for one molecule.
Ebay has dilutions but they lack the aesthetic of NaP. It's hard to describe ambroxan, it really is, but on the ebay page I use for my ambroxan dilutions for this it describes it as: Amber, Sweet, Dry, Musky, Woodsy If I had to put it in five words, that would be it. When you smell it, you will know. It really is an interesting scent.
I don't like ambroxan heavy fragrances, but on its own, it is magnificent. Not a Perfume does a good job introducing people to ambroxan since it's at Sephora. I know a lot of people hate ambroxan, but I love it so so so much. NaP is great. Superdose reacts differently on my skin, at first it is really woody, and a lot darker.
The smell is extremely different and hard to describe. After a while it became the regular ambroxan smell, but the opening was very weird. This smells different on girls vs. guys. It is perfectly unisex. I love how it smells on my gf. But on myself it smells more "manly". This can be layered with other fragrances to improve longevity. Honestly, give it a shot if you like the aesthetic, or just head to ebay for a cheaper version that doesn't look cool. It's just a molecule anyway, it's not a perfume after all.
Love or hate on this one as well. Ambroxan gives some people headaches and some can't smell it. This one is a cool, chill, androgynous fragrance. Think white t shirt, jeans, and Doc Martens; someone that smells clean and fresh without trying too hard.
It smells different on everyone. I found that I really preferred the intense version, as the original version (the one I am reviewing) didn't last long enough and dried down to be a little unpleasantly comparable to moth ball scent on my skin.
But I do see the appeal, and I like how this is different for everyone. Single-note scents can be hit or miss, but this one is hugely popular for a reason! So it's "nice." There are no top notes, no layers, as you probably know, it's a single molecule (Cetalox) fragrance.
I get the soft gentle musky smell, a hint of sweet, that fixative "indescribable" note. But I think the best way to describe this is- it just enhances your own natural odor. It makes your own skin smell "warmer" so this could really be hit or miss, depending on your body chemistry. On me, it smells like NOTHING. Not even kidding. My natural body odor is almost nonexistent because I have a really clean, plant based diet.
At best, it smells like I stuck my wrist into a pile of laundry- yesterday. And that's only if you really bury your nose into my skin. No one would know I was wearing anything. *BUT* Out of sheer curiosity, I also spritzed it on my husband.
His natural body odor is a little more earthy than mine. And while the cetalox is still "weak" on him. it, without a doubt, enhanced his own scent. I smelled him, and his skin smelled "warmer" and dare I say, "spicier." The cetalox enhanced the muskiness of his own body odor, and it was very distinct.
His wrist smelled more woodsy, piney, dare I say sagey, or vetiver-y. so all in all, it really depends. I could see layering this with something else to give it that special little something. I actually layer this with MK Wonderlust to make it last a little longer.
But to wear alone, especially if you dont have much of an odor, you're better off standing in a laundromat for a few minutes and you'll get the same effect. It is like my skin but better. A perfume you can wear to bed like you naturally smell good. I sprayed behind my ears and it usually lingers on my hair even after I take a shower. I think the message that perfumer tries to convey is well delivered: a scent for a beginner or person who doesn’t like to wear strong, bold, statement perfume.
It’s beginner level. Much like Escada too I do get the idea of the scent but in my skin it smells like a dusty basement. It’s kind of “mold” like and boring. It’s way to skin like and barely noticeable, for the high price, it’s definitely not worth it.
The only use I get out of it is layering it with the Zara Femme perfume. It’s not a gross smelling scent, just extremely bland. 1.5/5⭐️ I tried this "Not a Perfume" twice, and I agree, this is not a perfume. I really smell nothing. Maybe a hint of clean in the crook of one elbow. but that could just be a me smell. I feel like I'm in that story The Emperor's New Clothes.
I am going to sit in this perfume, which I spayed all over me (and on my oldest guinea pig's. er. son's wrist) until I smell something, and if that fails, I will spray "Because it's You" on top, to see if it makes that perfume last longer, as it did not last long on me, and wore off about an hour before I applied "Not a Perfume." SCIENCE! I can report that after 10 minutes, I can smell a hint of clean on my son's wrist.
Like a light clean linen scent. VERY light. For sure not my son's natural scent. I can also report that I can now smell a hint of the "Because it's You" that I sprayed on me this morning, but just a hint. Nothing to be excited over. This is a very boring not a perfume. But I do smell the "Because it's You" a little stronger on my skin now, 20 minutes later, although I did not re-apply that perfume yet.
This is just leftover from what I sprayed on me this morning. It somehow rejuvenated that fragrance a little. So maybe "Not juliette has a gun not a perfume Perfume" will make "Because it's You" perform better? I'm excited to find out! FOR SCIENCE! "Because it's You" smells the same. Fresh raspberry, light rose. maybe a little more sour? But I only smell that in the cook of my elbows, so that could juliette has a gun not a perfume from body heat. Projection seems the same. Maybe a little stronger?
But that could just be me smelling the Emperor's new clothes. Fingers crossed it makes the fragrance last longer! Nope. Smells the same. Projection is the same. Lasts the same. Apparently my fancy skin needs an actual perfume to smell pretty.
This was a cold/blind purchase; I didn't even check the reviews. This is truly "not a perfume"; you do not "wear" this scent, it is rather a fleeting memory a part of you; it is you. It's something you can't capture, or name. You don't know how to describe what it is or what it becomes.
It's as ellusive as a dream. It becomes you. Very pleasant, somewhat cozy; it will remind you of who you are. I can't understand why people keep saying it has no scent and they could smell almost nothing.
On me, Not a Perfume is so loud that it's impossible to miss. It's hard to describe it - it's like breathing oxygen with every cell of your body. For me it's gorgeous - exactly what the description says - "minimalist, elegant, pur". I'd add "classy" - less is more. I juliette has a gun not a perfume tried all of the Escentric Molecules and did not find them to be very exciting or special with little lasting power.
I agree that the first thing i thought when i saw this fragrance, i thought they were ripping off Escentric Molecules, but unlike the previous reviewers, this did not upset me as many perfumes smell similar- or near identical. Well this did not! Luckyscent sent me a sample of this and i was not terribly excited to try it but when i did the most beautiful aroma started coming from where i applied it. It is kind of difficult to explain the smell, lightly sweet, musky aroma that somehow smells clean without smelling like soap.
For some reason I smell expensive cashmere but my description doesnt do it justice. I didnt notice it at first, but as the night went on it got stronger, warmer and I fell in love with it.
It lasted well in to the next day. I am a big fan of JHAG and own lady v and citizen queen-They have the most beautiful packaging too.
I would be honored to have this in my collection and I suspect I will eventually cave and buy it. I have never smelled anything like this! The fact that its is with out allergens is intriguing. Especially for people in the health care field or who have allergies to regular fragrances. UPDATE got a fb, I knew I would cave! Well, my mom loves it on me but not so much her self (faint on her, almost sweet on me) but my male cousin asked for it for his birthday right after trying it, loving the scent and bottle so much.
This is a special scent and chemistry plays a big role. I believe it is totally unisex and pretty long lasting. Much better than eccentric molecules for me, and everyone who's smelled it on me has complimented it and commented it smelled unique, which didn't ever happen with E.M. They are different fragrances but chemistry plays a BIG role on these single molecule fragrances so try before you buy. in my mind this is another fantastic perfume from JHAG, quite possibly my favorite (then lady v, citizen queen which I also own FB of).
Lasting power is fantastic as everyone at luckyscent says! I am thrilled with the purchase! This is my first review only because this is getting a bad Rep. Please remember, perfumes smell different on everyone. Its subtle enough to wear to my restaurant job but wears for hours.
It boosted my sea appeal to the point random men were complimenting it and my boyfriend growled when I got home from work, with it still on my neck. Its simple but low and almost imperceptible but the primal undertone gets noticed.
It has the warm glow of pure desire and will actually make you purr while wearing it. It may be pricey but for over 3 oz (where many domestic only sell up to 2.5) its certainly not the worst I've seen. I will buy the full bottle soon and maybe the little one for my purse. Saw it selling for 145.00. Practically fell off my chair when I sniffed this rediculously priced juice that smells like Gain laundry detergent. Someone is having a laugh somewhere while rolling in heaps of money.
(the next day) On the positive side, it's a day later - after dishwashing and showering - and I can still smell this on my wrist. However, I do use Gain laundry detergent, so maybe I'm just smelling my freshly laundered sweater.
What's next, clothing companies that produce "not clothing" so you hand over your money and get a small piece of plastic wrap to cover your privates?? It's unbelievable to me that a perfume company would produce something like this. No sh*t it's "not a perfume"! I'm juliette has a gun not a perfume it's still on their product line. It probably sells well as a gag gift. Save yourself the money and just use a scented soap in the shower. Your skin will smell the same as this "un-perfume".
Indeed, it's not a perfume. But the smell is instantly familiar. One sniff and you'll realize you've smelled this many a time before as a note in other perfumes. As others have said, it does remind me of Light Blue. It smells nice enough as a single ingredient, but I can't imagine paying that kind of money for something that truly isn't a perfume but a lone piece in the perfume puzzle.
I'm sure it would be great for layering, but again, that's a lot of money to pay for one note. To each their own, I guess. This might be a good option for people with allergies or those who live with them. I mean honestly Sephora gives this out like candy in play boxes and with orders. I’ve tried it multiple times alone and with other fragrances. I can’t smell a thing. I don’t know if I’m nose blind or if that’s the point.
Who knows? I hear it’s clean and fresh but so is my 2 dollar soap so I’ll save the 128 bucks and keep using ivory. You know what? I'm trying really, really hard, and coming up short. I don't smell it. It's kind of humbling because I do enjoy analyzing fragrance so much. I'm fully supportive of others who enjoy this or go mad for it, but I just can't get with it it seems. I've spritzed it before and smelled a faint wood, and that's the furthest I've come in my journey with NAP.
Today, I only can detect a *very* subtle saltiness (like weak chlorine) on my chest and right underneath my neck. I was even sure to get some on my shirt, and still, nothing.
This is like algebra to me guys, I just don't get it; but I'm happy for others who do! 🤣 Jump to the top Fragrantica in your language: - Deutsch - Español - Français - Italiano - Русский - Polski - Português - Ελληνικά - 汉语 - Juliette has a gun not a perfume - Srpski - Română - العربية - Українська - Монгол - עברית - Luxois Watches - Beauty Almanac - Copyrights © 2006-2022 Fragrantica.com perfumes magazine - All Rights Reserved - do not copy anything without prior written permission.
