Nailed it! Good job! Hope there is a season 2. Can't get enough of Inspector Koo, Santa, K, chairman Yong Sook, and everyone, really. It's another one of those dramas where the writer managed to make every single character (except for the chairman's youngest, HyeonTae) so charming and lovable in their own ways.
I LOVED everyone! All from the minor characters, to the villains, and the 4 friends, most especially inspector Koo, and Santa. I am glad this does not have a love story that distracts from the plot. The cast was perfect! Every single one of them nailed their roles perfectly. The OST and the animation was so cool. Season 2 please! Yumi Dec 29 2021 4:37 am I just finished watching and surprisingly I actually enjoyed it. The first 4 episodes may be boring but after that, I couldn't stop watching.
I don't know why it got such low rating bcoz I think it deserves a bit more attention. Some parts may seem cliche and corny, especially when they started to play that song. LYA acting really reminds me of Jun Ji Hyun though - even the way she speaks.
There are parts where I feel that the director was trying so hard to make them look so cool or so. I just dislike that the main lead is so sloppy. looking messy is another thing but having flies around her and being extremely smelly is another thing, so I feel so uncomfortable whenever she speaks closely to the other characters. And I hope they made a clear indication of what really happened with Santa and detective's husband. Overall this is one of those dramas that I might rewatch again.
Ann Dec 25 2021 10:35 am Also some of the scenes arent well conected. Sometimes They are looking for someone at night and suddently becomes morning or They are wearing different clothes. They go scene by scene without explaining when was it. It may be confusing. Theres a moment They were catching killers at 5 p.m but it was full dark.
like??????????? Or it was 8 a.m but it looked like 5 p.m outside. I also noticed something like that in ep 5 when They were looking for K at the airport. Santa was wearing a costume. After a while Koo says She knows where K is and They start driving towards her (both were in Seoul, apparently not so far from each other).
But They only met her in the morning and They were wearing different clothes. like???? So She knew where K was but went back home to shower/change clothes and then went looking for her????
Ann Dec 25 2021 9:06 am Its a refreshing drama but some parts of it make me cringe. Also their background stories are kinda meeeeh. K is very charismatic. much more than Koo. She was fun to watch but not convincing as a killer. Koo is annoying. I sometimes got angry at her actions bc She sounds so out of space. I would hate to be around someone as problematic as her. Koo isnt atractive as a main character either.
My favorites were Na Je-Hui and Oh Gyeong-Su. Their dynamic was really cute and fun to watch. It was worth it to watch and it made me stay until the end. Anyway, heo yi jae a 6.5/10. I wouldnt watch again but If you dont have anything else to do I guess You can give it a try. Rei Heo yi jae 23 2021 1:49 pm Idk if it's likely but I would love a season 2 more on K. Kim Hye Jun did such a good job portraying her, a full on girl crush and an amazing antagonist.
Both Koo and K seemed like the protagonist and antagonist at times so I was pretty sad about K's ending and Gun uk's ending. Overall, this was by far the most refreshing crime series mainly because of the fact that we have a 'vigilante' that they're trying to track down instead of your usual morally bad serial killer, and the way the director and behind the scenes team filmed/edited this.
Well done to all of them. F Dec 08 2021 2:04 am The first 3 episodes are very slow & draggy with too many unnecessary scenes. But it get better from episode 4 onwards.
So far it's quite enjoyable & funny how they solved the mystery but K's voice irritates me sometimes esp when she screams or laughs. And it kinda annoying to me every time male with male romantic scenes appear Snail Nov 06 2021 11:41 pm it's really good, it's just that the first episode confused me a bit.
i thought the whole highschool settings were present until i realize the colourisation of the drama were flashbackโpresent. SPOILER !! episode 2 reminds me of episode 5 in mouse, where they connect murders into children stories. i think inspector koo was going after that plot? seeing k have a wholeass shelf for the story books, i guess she killed tons of people already.
also, i wish that santa isn't the bad guy that i think he is. good job! i really like k's character, hye-jun is an effective actress. as i saw kim hae sook in the cast, im already expecting much with this drama, hope it won't disappoint. Wang Nov 02 2021 7:21 pm Apart from all aspects.
the editings of this drama is so good. I've seem hundreds of kdramas. But this one has one of the best editings.
It somehow reminds me of Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (another Lee Young Ae's movie) and Tarantino's films. It not saying it is as good as those. But the editings somehow gave me a similar vibe Some critica used to say. You can know if a film will be good one judging by it's opening first shot.
And for me, the opening shot is quite good for a kdrama Jtbc just us an arthouse drama with Lost. And now another good drama with Inspector Koo. But yea. It is only the beginning. Let's see how it goes. In February 2015, MBK Entertainment announced its plans to debut a new girl group. Originally, the company had decided to have possible candidates for their new group compete on a reality survival program. [2] On February 10, Kim Dani was confirmed to be joining the project and announced the program's name T-ara's Little Sister Girl Group. [3] In June, MBK Entertainment announced that they had cancelled their plans for a survival program, and decided to select the members internally.
The final three members, Yebin, Eunice, and Jenny were revealed and the group was set to debut in August under the name DIA. [4] MBK announced a line-up with six members: Eunice, Huihyeon (originally under the stage name Cathy), Jenny, Yebin, Eunjin, and Chaeyeon. [5] Seunghee was added to the line-up before the group's debut. On September 14, 2015, DIA ultimately released their self-titled debut studio album, Do It Amazing. [6] 2016: Line-up changes, Happy Ending, Spell, and subgroups [ edit ] Eunchae (introduced with her real name Chaewon) joined as a new member in March 2016, [7] [8] and in April, Seunghee was confirmed to have left the group.
[9] DIA's first mini-album Happy Ending was released on June 14, 2016, along with the music video for lead single "On the Road" on the same day. [10] In September 2016, the group released a Harry Potter-themed album titled Spell, with "Mr.
Potter" as the lead single. [11] [12] DIA was subsequently separated into two heo yi jae and "B" subgroups, named BinChaenHyunSeuS and L.U.B, releasing heo yi jae separately. [13] [14] 2017: New members, YOLO and Love Generation [ edit ] DIA on June 16, 2017. On April 6, the group released a pre-release single titled "You Are My Flower", which featured trot singers Kim Yeon-ja and Hong Jin-young.
[15] DIA's reality show subsequently began airing on April 9 on the TV network Onstyle, days after two new members, Jueun and Somyi, were announced. [16] On April 19, the group's second studio album YOLO was released.
[17] The album contained fourteen tracks, with the lead single titled "Will You Go Out with Me?". [18] YOLO also included several tracks composed by the members themselves and featured various artists such as rapper DinDin and former I.O.I member Kim Chung-ha. DIA's third mini-album titled Love Generation was later released on August 22, 2017.
[19] The album contains twelve heo yi jae, with the lead single titled "Can't Stop". [20] On October 12, a repackaged edition of Love Generation, titled Present, was released. It contained the songs from the former, along with four new songs with the title track "Good Night".
[21] 2018: Eunjin's departure and Summer Ade [ edit ] DIA as six on January 30, 2018. On May 7, 2018, Eunjin announced her departure from the group, citing health problems.
[22] On June 9, 2018, it was reported that DIA would make a comeback on July 5, 2018. [23] It had been previously announced that the group were to come back in Heo yi jae with a track produced by Shinsadong Tiger.
[24] On the day of the album's purported release, MBK Entertainment released an official statement announcing and apologizing for its postponement saying it was to be released on July 18, [25] but that did not happen, with the company claiming the postponements were to ensure high-quality material.
[26] DIA ultimately released on their fourth EP Summer Ade on August 9, 2018, with the title track "Woo Woo". [27] [28] On August 14, the group received their first music show win on SBS MTV's The Show.
[29] [30] 2019: Newtro and Jenny's departure [ edit ] Initially, it was reported that DIA would make a comeback on November 7, 2018, with heo yi jae " Bo Peep Bo Peep 2.0" produced by Shinsadong Tiger. [31] However, nothing materialized. On February 20, MBK Entertainment confirmed both DIA's comeback and the single's production being handled by Shinsadong Tiger and marks their first release as seven members without Jenny due to a knee injury.
[32] On March 19, 2019, DIA released their fifth EP titled Newtro alongside its title track "Woowa", after previous reports of a release on March 28 and 21. [33] [34] [35] On July 6, 2019, MBK Entertainment confirmed that Jenny left the group due to health problems with her knee.
[36] [37] 2020โpresent: Flower 4 Seasons, Yebin's solo debut and Somyi's departure [ edit ] On May 25, 2020, it was revealed that DIA would make a comeback with their sixth EP Flower 4 Seasons on June 10, marked their first release under PocketDol Studio.
[38] It was confirmed that the group will promote with five members as a unit without Chaeyeon & Somyi. [39] On June 23, 2021, Yebin made her solo debut with the single "Yes I Know". Released from prison, Taesik goes to live with an adopted mother. He takes a job and tries to live a quiet life with his new family. His efforts are threatened when a politician seeks to knock the family restaurant down to build a mall. This one should work for all who are accustomed to Korean crime dramas. They are often considered to be heavy handedbut to be honest that has almost always worked for me somehowspecially because of the genuine performances by the main characters involved.
The story is simple. Its about an ex gangster who is free from prison after serving ten years. All he wants is a second chance in life. A chance for a little bit of happiness and peace for the ones he loves. But a constant threat always looms over his family and threatens to awaken the demon inside him. (Decided to write this short review seeing there was just one other seriously misleading review for this genuinely decent movie)

[4] When he was four years old, his family moved to Seoul where Lee's grandparents were living. Lee's grandfather ran a small real estate business, while his father produced and sold soaps. Lee was raised in the neighborhood of Ahyeon-dong, and graduated from Seoul High School and the prestigious Seoul National University.
[5] [6] He also holds an insurance planning license as celebrities without the license cannot become endorsers or spokespeople of related products. [7] Lee first met his wife Choi Jee-jung as a university student as she was the sister of his fellow student theater troupe member. [8] They married in 1966 and have two children. Career [ edit ] Lee began his acting career as a university student, and in the 1950s and 1960s he was known, along with other veteran actors like Yeo Woon-kay, as the original stars of daehakgeuk or amateur student theatrical productions.
[9] Lee has since built a prolific career on the small and big screen spanning nearly six decades. He was most active in film in the late 1960s through the 1970s, most notably in Yu Hyun-mok's Bun-Rye's Story. As he grew older, Lee shifted to a primarily TV career in the 1990s, receiving acclaim for his roles in the television dramas Live As I Please (written by Yoo Ho), Pungwoon (Crisis), What is Love (written by Kim Soo-hyun) and Hur Jun.
[10] [11] [12] From 1992 to 1996, Lee served as a member of the 14th National Assembly of South Korea. [13] He quit politics after one term after finding the political climate "too barren" for his taste. [14] Lee remains active in his various advocacies, such as the Korea Broadcasting Actors Union. [15] [16] [17] He is also a professor of Film Arts at Sejong University, a professor emeritus of Performing Arts at Gachon University, and the director of the SG Academy.
After starring in Hur Jun, he was given an honorary doctorate in Oriental Medicine by Kyung Hee University. In 2018, Lee was awarded a second-class Eungwan Order of Cultural Merit by the Korean government, for his work as an actor.
[18] Recent works [ edit ] High Kick! [ edit ] In 2007, Lee, by then a distinguished veteran actor, reached new heights of mainstream popularity when he starred in the sitcom Unstoppable High Kick!. One particular scene became a huge hit among young audiences: when his stern grandfather character discovers porn while browsing through a family member's computer files, then embarrassingly gets caught watching.
It went viral, giving rise to numerous parodies in which "Yadong (Porn) Soon-jae" is involved in R-rated hijinks. Lee was surprised that even his granddaughter asked for his autograph for her friends, adding, "Even during my best years, my daughter never asked me for that." Despite having no superstars in the cast, the sitcom received high ratings, which Lee attributed to successfully building comic tension.
He said, "For an actor to be funny, he's got to play things straight. [.] It's about finding the comedy in something serious." [4] But Lee also lamented the recent trend of casting inexperienced actors in leading roles on TV, saying, "It's important to know the basics, like the language. How can you act, when you don't even know how to pronounce? Acting is not a simple thing, and this I can say from experience." He later returned as the family patriarch in High Kick Through the Roof, which shares the same concept as the previous sitcom, but with a different cast and characters.
[19] [20] Good Morning President [ edit ] In 2009, Lee made his big screen comeback after 20 years in television, in Jang Jin's comedy Heo yi jae Morning President. Heo yi jae movie tells the story of three fictional Korean presidents, and in the first segment, Lee played a well-respected elderly president nearing the end of his term who espouses frugality and charity, but then agonizes whether to take the money when he unexpectedly wins the lottery. Lee said, "I was impressed with how much times have changed; before it would have been impossible to parody the president.
The film tries to show that heads of state are only human, just like you and me, which I think makes the movie distinctive, as well as fresh and fun for viewers." [21] [22] Late Blossom [ edit ] In 2011, Lee, Yoon So-jung, Song Jae-ho and Kim Soo-mi starred in Late Blossom, a tearjerker romance about two elderly couples, based on the popular webtoon I Love You by Kang Full.
[23] Lee said the movie was a rare chance for him and other senior actors to play leading roles on the heo yi jae screen. He added that Korea's senior citizen population had surpassed five million, and "not understanding their feelings would be a failure of television dramas, movies and even elections.
Young people might be under the illusion that life is over after turning 60, but the heart doesn't change despite getting old." [24] Initially difficult to finance due to ageism, Late Blossom had a small shooting and marketing budget compared to most Korean mainstream films. But it became a sleeper hit, recouping four times its cost in just a few weeks. Heo yi jae also won Best Actor under the international film category at the China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, becoming its oldest recipient.
Lee said, "I never thought I'd win. What a surprise. It feels great to know that Late Blossom has been received well overseas.
I thought it would be hard for an actor from television dramas to be awarded a prize at film awards, not to mention the unexpected pleasure of winning at a foreign film festival. I have received the best entertainer award and achievement award before, but receiving this makes me happier and more thrilled." It was his first best actor award for a film in 34 years since the 1977 Baeksang Arts Awards.
[25] [26] Theater [ edit ] Lee returned to the stage in 2012 in Father, a Korean adaptation of Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman. This was his third time to play the character Willy Loman.
Lee said, "When I first played this role in 1978, some parts were rather incomprehensible.
But now, as our society developed, we heo yi jae finally fully understand what those lines mean. That is the beauty of working on masterpieces like Arthur Miller's. I feel a satisfaction and regret at the same time, for I have reached a new comprehension, and for the perspective that I have yet to discover." [27] [28] He reprised the role in 2013, under the direction of Kim Myung-gon.
[29] Grandpas Over Flowers [ edit ] In 2013, cable channel tvN launched the travel- reality show Grandpas Over Flowers (the title parodies the manga Boys Over Flowers) directed by Na Young-seok (previously of 1 Night 2 Days).
[30] Defying a youth-centered entertainment industry, the hit show stars four veteran actors in their 70s, Lee, Shin Goo, Park Geun-hyung and Baek Il-seob, as they go on a backpacking tour of France, Taiwan and Spain.
[31] [32] [33] Idol School [ edit ] In 2017, he joined Idol School as principal and narrator. Idol School is a survival program, making a new permanent girl group in 11 weeks. They are trained in dance, vocal, and physical education while gathering votes from public and performing on stages. As of 2019, he is the oldest active actor and the oldest actor.
Song Hae-ga (Donggap, Im Kwon-taek) is the only senior artist among all celebrities. It was the first to be dedicated to the Korean Broadcasting Hall of Fame and earlier to the MBC Hall of Fame.
