There are major changes - Olympus looks a little different and Control mode will shake things up a bunch - but I like looking into the granular stuff.

You know, which weapons do one more damage per bullet and which shotguns have a lower rate of fire, that sort of thing. Perhaps it’s because I enjoy watching Apex Legends esports nearly as much as playing the game, so I can project and predict where the meta will shift with each new change.

Maybe it’s because I’m always on the lookout for a new main ( sorry, Fuse) so Legend buffs and nerfs could dictate who I play as for the next season. But ultimately the why doesn’t matter; Mad Maggie may be fun to play, but even the subtlest changes to meta staples could impact your matches more than most Legends. Related: Here's What Apex Legends' Multiview Mode Actually Means TheGamer was invited to a presentation of the changes coming in Apex Legends Season 12, so while we wait for the complete patch notes, I’m going to analyse the biggest changes and discuss what this means for the game, in terms of both casual and competitive play.

Legend Changes Two Legends are getting reworked in Season 12, Crypto and Caustic. Both see a fair amount of play in the esports scene, so it will be interesting to see how things are impacted by the changes.

Caustic: Barrels can now be destroyed while deploying gas. This change means that Caustic barrels will no longer be more effective cover than Rampart’s walls, and generally reduces the noxious doc’s effectiveness. Will his use in the competitive scene be reduced? We’ll have to see how drastic this nerf is, as he’s been nerfed before and somehow resurrected himself.

Apex’s live balance designer John Larson says the team found the barrels to still be “quite strong” during internal playtests. Crypto: We know less about what Crypto’s actual changes are, but he’s already seeing a fair amount of play in some regions of the ALGS. However, he’s very passive and not very fun, especially in casual matches. He’s getting an option to Drone Deploy, and cast his drone, Hack, while remaining present on the battlefield.

He’ll still be able to go into Drone View, apex legends season 12 patch notes this gives apex legends season 12 patch notes another option and will make him less likely to be left behind by teammates when he is busy piloting Hack.

There are also HUD improvements while in Drone View. I think we’ll need more information to see how this impacts Apex matches, but it certainly buffs Crypto in the ALGS, where he was already seeing a considerable amount of play. Weapon Changes There’s a new type of weapon on the block: the Crafted Weapon. These weapons are similar to Supply Drop weapons in that they don’t spawn as ground loot, but are permanently able to be crafted. Crafted Weapons: The Longbow and VK47 Flatline will only be available from Crafting Stations this season.

While many will be disappointed that the two popular weapons won’t be found on the floor any more, this actually presents a reliable way to get your hands on them every game.

We don’t know how much they cost yet, but if they’re fairly economical with the Crafting Materials costs, this change could see more of the guns being run in matches. The change also concentrates the loot pool, which has been slowly diluted as new weapons are added to the game.

apex legends season 12 patch notes

Volt SMG: The Volt is moving to the Care Package in Season 12. The SMG is less popular than the R-99, but an extra two damage and two rounds per magazine will turn it into a devastating weapon for any of us lucky enough to stumble across it. The Alternator returns to ground loot, sans Disruptor Rounds, and will therefore likely be forgotten.

Kinetic Feeder: A new hop up is hitting the Apex Games, the Kinetic Feeder attaches to the Peacekeeper and Triple Take (the latter of which is receiving a damage nerf too). The hop up does what it says on the tin, automatically reloading your weapons as you’re sliding. However, during the slide it also speeds up the choke time. This is a big buff to the Peacekeeper, which now has a hop up to rival the Mastiff’s Dual Shell, but will likely be situational on the Triple Take.

Hammerpoint Rounds: Hammerpoints are back for the P2020 and Mozambique. However, in Season 12 the hop up will also attach to the RE-45. If you remember, Hammerpoint Rounds do additional damage to unshielded enemies, so adding it to the rapid firing RE-45 could be huge.

apex legends season 12 patch notes

This could be a new meta secondary weapon, especially if you upgrade the automatic pistol in Arenas mode. Actually, running any of these three cheap weapons in the early rounds of Arenas could be more brutal now.

Will it rival the R-99 in battle royale?

apex legends season 12 patch notes

Unlikely, but you never do know. Shattercap Rounds: These also receive a buff, and automatically switch between shotgun and long range modes depending on what you’re firing at. As long as there are no targeting issues, this will be a nice buff, but won’t hugely impact matches. The biggest change for Apex Legends esports will be the Legend balances and Crafting Weapons. A lot will depend on the price of the latter, but teams landing in areas with lots of Crafting Materials could be in for an easier time looting than those relegated to lesser POIs.

I fully expect to see even more Cryptos as Split 2 of the ALGS kicks off, and the number of Caustics will likely stay the same initially, as players work out whether this is a nerf too far. If it is, which defensive Legend will replace him? I’m all for seeing more Lobas to loot up after a Valkyrie rotation, but maybe that’s just me. Arenas may take a back seat as non-battle royale players check out Control mode, but upon their return a fully upgraded P2020, Mozambique, or RE-45 could be a very economical loadout to run in early rounds.

With some tournaments like BLAST Titans competing in Arenas as well as battle royale, pro players should take note of this change, too. As the RE-45’s biggest cheerleader, I’m happy to see it thriving.

There’s a lot of balance changes in Season 12, and we’ll have to wait to see the true impact of them all. One thing, however, never changes: the debate of which shotgun is best just got hotter.

Next: What Apex legends season 12 patch notes NICKMERCS Bring To The ALGS?
Season 12 has arrived for Apex Legends and here’s the full list of changes and fixes added with this patch.

The new season is being called the “Defiance” and sees some major buffs and nerfs. Crypto has received a major buff letting him toss his drone in a straight line. The drone will also instantly begin scanning for opponents instead of forcing Crypto to steer it. The developers have slightly nerfed Caustic and you can now destroy his gas traps once they are activated. The gas traps have 150 HP and the gas effects will remain for two seconds after the trap has been destroyed.

There are significant changes to both Olympus and Storm Point. Going by the Apex Legends Season 12 Patch Notes, the Apex legends season 12 patch notes map has been expanded in an attempt to get firefights out of the center of the map, while the Storm Point map witnesses changes in its Prowlers. In Season 12, the Prowlers will have reduced damage to legends while providing more crafting materials.

Here are the Apex Legends Season 12 Patch Notes. LEGENDS BALANCE Crypto Drone View HUD and other Quality of Life updates: • Added gamestate (e.g.

apex legends season 12 patch notes

Ring information, round timers), minimap, killfeed, team status, and ping information to the Drone’s HUD. • Repurposed the Drone HUD’s old Crypto health/shield presentation into displaying the health of the Drone itself. • Survey Beacon markers are now displayed in-world while piloting the Drone (same as when controlling Crypto himself). Neurolink changes: • Increased the Neurolink detection FOV from 160 -> 240 degrees.

• Neurolink detection is now disabled while the Drone is being recalled. Surveillance Drone changes: • The deployment of the Drone has received a rework: • Pressing the Tactical button causes Crypto to send the Drone flying in a straight line in the direction of Crypto’s view for a few seconds. • If thrown to a wall (or other geo), the Drone will hit the wall and re-orient itself so that it’s facing away from the wall. • Crypto no longer immediately accesses Drone View after deploying his Drone in this way.

• Pressing and holding the [Tactical] button will launch the Drone forward in the same way, but then Crypto will immediately access Drone View.

• Reduced Drone health from 60 -> 50. • The HUD marker for the Drone has been tweaked to increase visibility. • The HUD marker for the Drone is now always displayed on-screen while the Drone is deployed (instead of only when the Drone was off-screen.

Dev Note Crypto has been off the grid in terms of pick rate. The goal of these changes was to make his kit more accessible and engaging. With a new deployment option, we lowered drone health to prevent reckless drone deploy.

Crypto is still a methodical, calculating legend, and manually piloting Hack should still be the primary way to access macro-level recon. The drone view HUD updates should help here as well. Crypto’s never been weak per se; we’re cognizant of his strengths at high-level play and will be keeping an eye on his usage and performance. Caustic Nox Gas Traps are now destroyable after detonation • 150hp • Detonated traps will expire at 11s (instead of 12.5s) • Gas effects linger for two seconds after barrel destruction or expiration (gas particles still linger a bit longer as they dissipate) WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT BALANCE Supply Drop Rotation The Alternator SMG returns to the ground loot this season and taking its place is the powerful mid-range energy Volt SMG.

Alternator SMG • Removed disruptor rounds hop-up Volt SMG • Damage increased from 15 to 17 • Max mag size increased from 28 to 30 Hop Ups Kinetic Feeder – Triple Take & Peacekeeper Sliding with the Triple Take or Peacekeeper significantly speeds up choke time and automatically reloads rounds. Hammerpoint Rounds – P2020, Mozambique & RE-45 • P2020 • +50% unshielded damage • Mozambique • +35% unshielded damage • RE-45 • +35% unshielded damage Shatter Caps – 30-30 Repeater & Bocek Bow • Passively affects hip-fire for both weapons • ADS remains precision shot • No longer able to toggle on/off • 30-30 pellet damage reduced from 8 to 7 • Bow pellet damage reduced 12 to 11 Triple Take • Removing projectile growth from bullets • Damage reduced from 23 to 21 per bullet Dev Note The Triple Take’s return to floor loot has been really positive, but it’s proving to be a bit ahead of the pack with its ranged performance.

We’re eliminating the bullet growth it retained from its days as a sniper to pull it in line with other Marksman rifles. VK-47 Flatline • Damage reduced from 19 to 18 per bullet Rampage LMG (Hotfix) • Rampage damage reduced from 28 to 26 • Reduced number of shots during the Revved state from ~40 to ~34 Dev Apex legends season 12 patch notes On January 13, 2022 we implemented a hotfix to the Rampage and Sentinel infinite charge bug.

We took that opportunity to get out a Rampage nerf early. Noting these changes here for anyone who missed our earlier messaging. Fully Kitted Rotation • Added: RE-45, Triple Take, Peacekeeper, Prowler, Havoc • Removed: Mastiff, 30-30 Repeater, R-301, CAR, Longbow Weapons in Crafting • VK-47 Flatline and Longbow DMR are now craftable for 30 mats at any crafting station.

• Weapons in crafting can not be found on the ground. • Crafted weapons come with no attachments and two boxes of ammo Apex legends season 12 patch notes Note As we continue to introduce new weapons and loot into the game we must consider the impact it has on loot saturation and the ability to find specific pieces for loadouts.

With this change we are able to keep weapons available but give our floor loot some breathing room. Crafting • Medkit price lowered from 20 to 15 • Kinetic Feeder added to crafting rotation BUG FIXES AND QUALITY OF LIFE • Fixed issue where multiple Legends were missing voice lines when pinging a caged flyer. • Fix for Booster Loader where ammo counter would remain highlighted when switching from a low ammo Hemlok or Wingman to another weapon.

• Replicator fix for cases where an item could become stuck inside after crafting with a full inventory. • Fixed an error that would tell players to come back in a decade when matchmaking. • Fix for cases of lighting issues in some areas on Olympus. • Fix for cases where Mirage Ultimate Decoys could get stuck on surfaces raised slightly off the ground.

• Arenas: Fix for cases where Crypto’s Drone charges could be used multiple times with single Drone. • Arenas: Fix for cases where trying to charge a Rampage or Sentinel Rifle as the round starts results in the charge being cancelled when the round starts. • Crypto’s Drone fix for cases where it wouldn’t show friendly nameplates. • Fix for cases where players were able apex legends season 12 patch notes use melee on incline surfaces to get speed boost while sliding.

• Fix for cases where revving up a Rampage LMG while removing extended mag causes the revved up bar to appear forever. • Fix for cases where the timer for charging the Sentinel and Rampage was not showing the correct time left for animation.

• Fixed cases when specific Legendary Horizon skins would block part of screen when ADSing with a Prowler + 1x holo scope. • Fixed issue where weapon challenges would not show progress in the after match summary. • Fixed a bug where Charging up the Sentinel required 2 cells instead of 1 when wearing a golden armor. • Reduced L-STAR impact vfx. • Fixed a bug for cases where players could get a jump boost from deathboxes that are in the vicinity of Horizon’s Gravity Lift after it’s been used.

• Reticle Color Customization – Limiting values to 0-255 to avoid exploits. • Reticle Color Customization – improved inconsistency in UI color when ADSing with different sniper scopes.

• Reticle Customization fix for cases where rapidly adjusting the lighting bar can result in a performance drop on other platforms and a crash on Switch. • Based on feedback, we’ve adjusted the in-world icon for Ash’s passive to be smaller and closer to the ground.

• When Ash’s tactical hits an object it cannot stick to, it should now bounce off instead of destroying itself (tactical cooldown will not be refunded anymore) • Improved the targeting experience for Ash’s ultimate by preferring locations that are farther away • Audio Fix for cases where R-99 gun fire SFX persists when spectator changes to another player while R-99 is fired.

• Storm Point: Fixed cases where players were unable to shoot through the chain-link fences at Antenna. • Storm Point: Fix for cases where players could get stuck inside the map by using Valk’s Ultimate on Command Center. • Storm Point: Based feedback we’ve adjusted Final Round Rings so they don’t end in areas with no cover or populated by Prowler Dens. • Storm Point: Fix for cases where a player could be launched by a Gravity Cannon while below it.

• World’s Edge: Changed Fragment from high-tier to mid-tier loot. This happened in the apex legends season 12 patch notes update, but was inadvertently omitted from those patch notes.

• World’s Edge: Fixed an issue with Loba’s ultimate where it would not tell you items inside the panels at Trials were locked (though the alarm got triggered as normal). • Fix for cases where Gibby’s arm would be missing during Pathfinder’s “Iron Haymaker” finisher. • Fix for cases where the Entire map hears audio if a player cancels beacon scan. • Fixed issue where Valk’s “Cloud Marauder” Legend skin had darker hands in 1P versus what’s shown in the Lobby and in other 1P skins.

• Fix for cases where Players hit by Seer tactical just as they enter apex legends season 12 patch notes could lose certain functionality. • Fixed issue where Caustic barrels that are still being deployed (mid-throw) were not being deleted after Caustic dies.

OLYMPUS MAP UPDATE Someone or something has hacked into Olympus’ Phase Runner, sending the floating city crashing down and creating destabilizations across the city that change the face of the map: perhaps forever.

Players will experience a malfunctioning Olympus, with new terrain exposed and more POIs than ever. And that’s not all! • Expanded map; spreading squads out more so the map’s center area (Labs/Estates) isn’t the only go-to combat zone each game and reducing the frequency of spontaneous 3rd-parties.

• Better rotational options to help players get around and out of dangerous chokepoints • New interactive map toy and play spaces to help attract players into the new areas, creating fresh new experiences for Olympus Check out the full blog from map designer, Alex Graner that goes into detail about what to expect from the Olympus Map Update.

Players in the regular Play Apex queue will drop exclusively into Olympus for the first week of the season, after which we’ll add Storm Point and Kings Canyon into the rotation.

STORM POINT UPDATES Wildlife Update It’s now been a full season since we introduced PvE into Battle Royal and while we were happy with how wildlife launched, we’ve seen that Prowlers were a bit too punishing and not quite rewarding enough. Additionally, we have seen some bad edge cases that create frustration for players that we’re hoping to address this season. We’ll go more in depth on the exact details and our reasoning behind them in another blog, but in short: • Prowler damage reduced from 30 to 20 and reduced knockback force.

• Increased Prowler Nest completion reward from 90 to 150 crafting materials (250 total for the large Prowler Nest in the center of the map).Note: Crafting rewards are divided eveningly to all squadmates nearby at time of clearing the nest. All players (regardless of squad) in the area get a share of the 250 crafting material reward when the large Prowler Nest is cleared.

• Overhauled wildlife targeting rules to use damage as the primary factor which should help wildlife targeting feel more fair and less random. • Introduced a targeting cap for Prowlers, so only 3 Prowlers will be able to target a player at any time.

• Prowler Den spawns are now disabled when there are two teams inside of the same Nest (except for the massive Prowler Nest at the center of the map). • Prowlers are now neutral when outside the ring unless engaged in combat. • Prowler Dens are now disabled outside the ring if the Prowler Camp is passive. • Wandering Prowlers in the small Wildlife Nests have been reduced from 3 down to 2 and their wander radius is reduced by half until they are engaged in combat.

• Made some tweaks that should help squads clear Prowler Nests apex legends season 12 patch notes. • Gave a slight increase to high tier consumable drops on all wildlife. Drop Ship Pathing. While Storm Point has a relatively healthy spread of landing locations, we realized the typical drop ship logic often made the high northeast corner of the map particularly tough to land in. Rotating the distribution and moving the centerpoint slightly northeast should make Highpoint and Lightning Rod more accessible while still allowing players to land in the lower southwest portion if they desire.

Each image below shows 400 drop ship simulations, before and after the change: Finally, a few miscellaneous changes: • Improved wildlife combat versus vehicles. Targeting and damage now focuses on an occupied vehicle opposed to individual players in the vehicle • Improved wildlife interactions versus electrical abilities making stunning wildlife with Wattson’s fences and Ash’s tactical more reliable RANKED UPDATE In Apex Legends the primary goal is to be the last Legend standing, and racking up kills is the vehicle to get you there.

Last season, we made changes that opened up flexibility by compensating players with high kill counts that didn’t necessarily place first. We like this flexibility, but after observing the pacing of high-level ranked games, we saw players were focused on seeking out kills a little too much. Players that focus on fighting for higher placements and teamplay should be more faithfully awarded. Change Summary: Max Kill KP: 175 → 125 Placement Points & Per Kill Bonus: This tuning is more punishing to teams that undervalue placements.

We’re bumping up placement points for teams in the top 5; easing back on the ‘Kill KP Cap’ and adjusting ‘Per Kill Bonuses’ to require ~2-3 less Kills to hit the maximum.

Split 1 will be played on Olympus, and we’ll move over to Kings Canyon for Split 2 in April. COMMUNICATION FILTER During this season we’ll be releasing a new feature where players will be able to determine which players they want to receive voice and text chat from called Communication Filter. Players can find the feature in the Options Menu under Gameplay and will have 3 options to choose from. • Everyone = You see and hear all Text / voice chat from all players.

• Friends Only = You only see and hear friends text / voice chat. • Off = You do not see or hear any voice or text chat. Players can also unmute anyone they choose, friend of friend or a good random squadmate. Patch notes Respawn released the full patch notes for Apex Legends Season 12 ahead of the start of the new season. The patch notes list several changes to existing characters, as well as numerous bug fixes. New character: Mad Maggie Season 12 sees the addition of Mad Maggie to Apex Legends' playable roster. Mad Maggie is an "aggressive playmaker"--her abilities are geared towards pushing enemy squads and engaging them in close-range combat, similar to Octane and Revenant.

Maggie is the second playable character in Apex Legends with an ability that makes her especially adept when she's using specific weapons (the first being Rampart, who gets an extended clip and faster reload speed on LMGs). Maggie excels with shotguns, gaining increased running speed when holding one. • Modern Warfare 2 Reveal Date Leaks… Its Sooner Than You Think - GameSpot News • "A Hell Of A Job On This One!" - Firearms Expert Reacts to Fallout 4’s MOD Guns • CoD Vanguard & Warzone - Tracer Pack: Godzilla Bundle • Where Is Xur Today?

Most notably, Crypto is getting a good buff--starting in Season 12, the recon legend will be able to toss his drone in a straight line, allowing him to quickly scan in front of him or attach the drone to a wall as a stationary webcam.

Caustic also gets an update in Season 12. The toxic trapper has been nerfed--his traps are now destructible, preventing the legend from using them as reliable cover.

Weapon & hop-up changes In Season 12, the Alternator SMG rotates out of Care Packages and the Volt SMG rotates in. On top of this, the VK-47 Flatline and Longbow DMR are both being rotated into Replicators, with no way to loot these firearms save for finding them in an enemy's deathbox.

You'll otherwise have to craft them with Materials in order to nab them. In terms of hop-up attachments, Hammerpoint Rounds are returning. The hop-up still goes on the P2020 and Mozambique, but Season 12 changes the attachment so that it can be put onto the RE-45 Auto as well. Additionally, Shatter Caps have changed so that it's no longer a toggle--when attached, the 30-30 Repeater and Bocek Compound Bow will automatically switch to a shotgun-like bullet spread when firing from the hip.

And finally, a new hop-up was added in Season 12. Called Kinetic Feeder, the attachment can go on the Triple Take and Peacekeeper. It automatically reloads apex legends season 12 patch notes starts focusing either weapon when you slide. Map changes Though it received smaller changes in both Season 7: Ascension and Season 9: Legacy, Olympus gets its first major adjustment in Season 12.

apex legends season 12 patch notes

The new season adds two major points of interest to Olympus, as well as several adjustments throughout the map. Now called "Sabotaged Olympus," the new map features plenty of new ways to loot and navigate on the south side of the city with Phase Driver and Terminal.

Those POIs are still there though, don't worry--the shape of the city has just shifted. Phase Driver can be interacted with--squads can use it up to three times to teleport in blue- purple- and gold-tier loot rollers (like the ones found in Pathfinder's Fight Night). Terminal is a large internal POI with five entrances, connecting Phase Driver, Bonsai Hillside, Bonsai Plaza, and Solar Array to Hammond Labs. So, what was once a simple hallway beneath the Phase Runner is now an interconnected series of passages that should make it a bit easier to travel and fight in between these locations without getting third-partied.

The northern half of the map has gotten some love too. Most notably, Supply Track (the hallway that connects Turbine to Rift) has been expanded with a new entryway, which should keep that location from becoming a choke point as regularly as it did in Seasons 7-9. New mode: Control At the start of Season 12, a new limited-time mode called Control will go live in Apex Legends.

Control is chaotic fun, streamlining the Apex Apex legends season 12 patch notes experience to be more approachable for newcomers. The mode sees two teams of nine face off in a tug-of-war over controlling objectives across the map.

Capturing and defending objectives nets your team points, and the first side to reach 1500 points takes the win. Limited-time events Respawn has released its Apex Legends Season 12 roadmap. In it, two limited-time events are teased: Warriors and Unshackled. Warriors is a Collection Event, so it will likely feature a new legend heirloom--though it may also add a new mythic-tier legend cosmetic, like the Bloodhound skin seen in the Season 12 gameplay trailer that evolves over time.

Unshackled is listed as a normal event, which means (if Respawn holds to pattern) it's likely geared towards adding a new limited-time battle royale mode or Arenas map. Respawn has not confirmed either to be the case though, so we could just as easily get something totally brand-new. Ranked splits Like previous seasons, Apex Legends Season 12 will feature a ranked split, allowing players to climb up the in-game rankings on two different maps. The Ranked playlist will start on Olympus.

Midway through the season, your ranking will reset and Ranked will switch over to Kings Canyon. For those who aren't interested in Ranked, standard Trios and Duos will feature a regular map rotation between Olympus, Storm Point, and Kings Canyon. That means World's Edge is out of the map rotation entirely in Season 12. Arenas With the Apex legends season 12 patch notes returning to ground loot and the Volt being placed in Care Packages, you'll be able to once again buy the Alternator in Arenas.

Conversely, you will not be able to buy the Volt. Additionally, the RE-45 will now be able to be upgraded to have the Hammerpoint Rounds hop-up attachment. Quest storyline In Season 12, Apex Legends' Quest will dive into Mad Maggie, finally giving players her point of view.

Octane's dad, Duardo Silva, is setting Maggie up as a villain who's putting the people's beloved legends in danger (in the world of Apex Legends, the legends are basically just famous athletes, and the battle royale bloodsport they engage in is just good TV).

This plan is all in hopes of attracting more sympathy to his stance that the Syndicate (the group that runs the Apex Games and most of the populated worlds in the Titanfall/Apex Legends universe's Outlands) is incompetent and in need of some new leadership: Duardo, himself. Octane and Lifeline (whose rich parents are also pretty evil and side with Duardo) are wise to his villainous nature, and have already set their own plans in motion to try and stop him.

And finally, Valkyrie can be unlocked by logging into Apex Legends February 22-March 1. Acquiring all 24 cosmetics will automatically unlock a new mythic skin for Bloodhound, one that evolves over time as you deal more damage with the tracking legend. In its final form, the new skin unlocks an Ion Titan-inspired execution for Bloodhound. PS5 + Xbox Series X-S versions Season 12 won't see Apex Legends getting native PS5 and Xbox Series X-S versions, but current-gen versions are on the way. During a preview event, Apex Legends game director Steven Ferreira said, "We got a bunch of apex legends season 12 patch notes [on PS5 and Xbox Series X-S versions of Apex Legends] coming soon, so I don't want to spoil those." Cross-progression support Though Apex Legends supports cross-play, it still does not support cross-progression, meaning players have to use separate accounts when they want to play on a different system.

Cross-progression support is coming to Apex Legends in 2022, but it doesn't seem to be scheduled for Season 12. Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance is out today, February 8, and Respawn Entertainment has released the full patch notes, detailing a buff for Crypto, a slight nerf for Caustic, and changes for both Olympus and Storm Point.

The patch notes also detail two weapons being moved exclusively to the crafting station, as well as changes to the PvE elements of Storm Point. The Season 12: Defiance patch notes provide a look at some of the biggest changes coming in the new season.

While things like Mad Maggie's kit and the new LTM Control had already been revealed, some of the finer details are new. Olympus is getting an update with Season 12, with the map being expanded to try and get firefights out of the center of the map. Storm Point, which was introduced last season, is having its Prowlers changed.

The Prowlers will now do reduced damage to legends while providing more crafting materials for clearing out a nest.

Crypto is getting a buff, allowing him to throw his drone in a straight line. The drone will now immediately begin scanning for enemies instead of forcing Crypto to pilot it immediately.

If the thrown drone hits a wall or another obstacle, it will ricochet and turn around. The Neurolink detection FOV has been increased as well, so a wider range of enemies can be detected. Caustic has received a minor nerf, with his gas traps now destructible after being activated. The gas traps have 150 HP and the gas effects will linger for two seconds after the trap has been destroyed. The Nox Gas traps will also expire 11 seconds after activated, down from 12.5 seconds.

For the supply drop rotation, the Alternator is exiting the supply drop with the Volt SMG becoming the new supply weapon.

The Hammerpoint hop-up also returns, providing a buff to unshielded damage for the P2020, Mozambique, and RE-45. For the first time, two weapons will be exclusive to the crafting station. Both the Flatline and the Longbow DMR will be crafted for 30 material and will not spawn as normal loot. Ring information, round timers), minimap, killfeed, team status, and ping information to the Drone's HUD. • Repurposed the Drone HUD's old Crypto health/shield presentation into displaying the health of the Drone itself. • Survey Beacon markers are now displayed in-world while piloting the Drone (same as when controlling Crypto himself).

Neurolink changes: • Increased the Neurolink detection FOV from 160 -> 240 degrees.

apex legends season 12 patch notes

• Neurolink detection is now disabled while the Drone is being recalled. Surveillance Drone changes: • The deployment of the Drone has received a rework: • Pressing the Tactical button causes Crypto to send the Drone flying in a straight line in the direction of Crypto's view for a few seconds.

• If thrown to a wall (or other geo), the Drone will hit the wall and re-orient itself so that it's facing away from the wall.

Dev Note Crypto has been apex legends season 12 patch notes the grid in terms of pick rate.

Caustic Nox Gas Traps are now destroyable after detonation • 150hp • Detonated traps will expire at 11s (instead of 12.5s) • Gas effects linger for two seconds after barrel destruction or expiration (gas particles still linger a bit longer as they apex legends season 12 patch notes WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT BALANCE Supply Drop Rotation The Alternator SMG returns to the ground loot this season and taking its place is the powerful mid-range energy Volt SMG.

Alternator SMG • Removed disruptor rounds hop-up Volt SMG • Damage increased from 15 to 17 • Max mag size increased from 28 to 30 Hop Ups Kinetic Feeder - Triple Take & Peacekeeper Sliding with the Triple Take or Peacekeeper significantly speeds up choke time and automatically reloads rounds. Hammerpoint Rounds - P2020, Mozambique & RE-45 • P2020 • +50% unshielded damage • Mozambique • +35% unshielded damage • RE-45 • +35% unshielded damage Shatter Caps - 30-30 Repeater & Bocek Bow • Passively affects hip-fire for both weapons • ADS remains precision shot • No longer able to toggle on/off • 30-30 pellet damage reduced from 8 to 7 • Bow pellet damage reduced 12 to 11 Triple Take • Removing projectile growth from bullets • Damage reduced from 23 to 21 per bullet Dev Note The Triple Take’s return to floor loot has been really positive, but it’s proving to be a bit ahead of the pack with its ranged performance.

We’re eliminating the bullet growth it retained from its days as a sniper to pull it in line with other Marksman rifles. VK-47 Flatline • Damage reduced from 19 to 18 per bullet Rampage LMG (Hotfix) • Rampage damage reduced from 28 to 26 • Reduced number of shots during the Revved state from ~40 to ~34 Dev Note On January 13, 2022 we implemented a hotfix to the Rampage and Sentinel infinite charge bug.

• Crafted weapons come with no attachments and two boxes of ammo Dev Note As we continue to introduce new weapons and loot into the game we must consider the impact it has on loot saturation and the ability to find specific pieces for loadouts. With this change we are able to keep weapons available but give our floor loot some breathing room.

Defiance, as with the seasons before it, adds a brand new playable Legend to the game, drastic map changes, and for a nice bonus, a brand new game mode to play. All of that is in addition to the usual, more mundane, adjustments. If you want all of the gritty details, including those mundane bits, make sure to read through our breakdown of Apex Legends: Season 12 Defiance ‘s patch notes below.

We also have a list of the best weapons in Apex Legendsrankedwhich will help you decide which weapons to pick up as you land from the drop ship, or to buy ahead of the new Control game mode. Mad Maggie is the brand new playable Legend being added to Apex Legends in Season 12: Defiance. Mad Maggie already blew up half of King’s Canyon once already, and now she’s been sentenced to the Apex Games for her crimes.

Which suits her just fine, actually. Maggie brings with her a shotgun specialization, and will even highlight enemies you’ve inflicted damage on. Her tactical ability shoots a thermite-like burn behind shields and walls to force enemies into the open, and finally her ultimate unleashes a wrecking ball that chases enemies and leaves behind energy pads you can use for a nice speed boost.

If you want more on this Legend, read our Mad Maggie strategies breakdown. If you’ve been keeping an eye on what Apex Legends dataminers have been saying then you’ll know that a point-control mode has been in the works for a while, and now Control is finally available. This is a 9v9 game mode where two large teams fight against one another to control set points on the map. You’ll have to select your legends and weapons to complement your team – good luck.

As with any new season, there are map adjustments. Olympus is back in the rotation but the Phase Runners has been hacked, and things are going very wrong. As a result the map has been expanded on the South side with the Phase Driver, and in addition to that, you can find several expanded or improved areas across the map.

Experienced players will recognize these changes immediately, and how they will effect their rotation strategies. Last season PvE battles were introduced with Prowlers found in multiple places around maps. They’ve proven to be a bit too tough with not enough reward gained from beating them, so they’ve been overhauled. The primary takeaway here is that these creatures now do less damage, and fewer of them will be able to target you at once, with more rewards gained for destroying a Prowler Den.

As with any new season, there has been some Legend adjustments. There are only two this time around, but things have changed drastically for Crypto. Crypto Crypto, by and large, has been improved considerably. The health for his Surveillance Drone has been reduced, but other than that it’s all good news. Larger detection range, the ability to throw your drone into place without immediately having to use it, more information on the drone’s HUD – Crypto has received a boost in all these areas, making him a far more formidable recon Legend.

Caustic Caustic sees just a tiny adjustment – his gas traps can now be destroyed after they’ve been detonated. They have 150hp each, but once they are destroyed they will still have the gas linger in the air for a couple of seconds.

This means Caustic players won’t be able to trap their opponents easily anymore – sorry YouTube trolls, I respect you, and hate that they did this to you. Onto the weapons patch notes – there’s a brand new hop up in the game, in addition to a few changes apex legends season 12 patch notes the available guns. New hop up: Kinetic Feeder The Kinetic Feeder is one of the most unique hop ups yet, and slots into either the Triple Take or the Peacekeeper.

This speeds up the choke time of these weapons when you’re sliding – more incentive to slide right up to foes. It will also reload your weapon for you, allowing sliding players to just keep blasting. Triple Take The Triple Take has been too strong, so this season it sees bullet damage reduced from 23 to 21, and with long-range shots being trickier to hit thanks to no bullet growth.

Flatline The Flatline is having the most minor of nerfs, with damage reduced from 19 to 18. Shame. Rampage LMG Another damage nerf here, with the Rampage LMG’s damage going from 28 to 26, and the number of shots you can use during the Revved state going down to roughly 34 from around 40.
